What About Bob is hands down one of the best movies on the planet. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen it, but I love it a little more each time. If you’ve never seen it {and if you haven’t, it’s free on Netflix so now’s the perfect time!}, it’s stars Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss, with Murray playing, Bob Wiley, a psychiatric patient who follows his egotistical psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin {Dreyfuss} on vacation. When the unstable Bob befriends the other members of Marvin’s family, it pushes the doctor over the edge and results in some super hilarious moments!
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a merry little weekend,
~Mavis

A family favorite! “Hmmm, Mrs. Martin, is this corn hand-shucked?” is only one of the lines that has been quoted over and over.

I have loved “What About Bob?” since it came out in the 90’s. I refer to it nearly every single day in my life…even if I am only baby stepping to four o’clock…or whatever time I need to make it to! I hear Bob’s voice in my head baby stepping and sailing and even when I need a bowl (poor Gill).
I might have to watch this one again over the break so I can refresh the lines in my head… 🙂

We love this movie! My husband had his class watch it one year, and the buzz phrase for the rest of the year when learning something new was, “Baby steps.”

I remember going to see it at a theater. It was the first movie I ever walked out on–it was just too ridiculous for me!

Mavis, I downloaded The Autobiography of Santa Claus (for $1.99) and it is simply fantastic. Combination history lesson and novel, written in a lovely style, this book has real heart and was interesting from the first page to the last.

“I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful. I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful.” LOL! One of my very favorite movies of all time!

We watch it over and over again. It was filmed at Smith Mountain Lake about an hour from my house! We have gone by the house several times and the crazy house that Dr Leo takes Bob to is actually an Elks home in Bedford VA. We would go there every year to see their Christmas lights because they put on a spectacular display every year when we were kids. We love this movie that was filmed so close to home that it’s like they are our neighbors.
We love What About Bob!

What About Bob is one of my all time favorites! I just watched it again at Thanksgiving. I even talked about it with my therapist, LOL. It’s just ironic how as Bob reaches to connect with Dr. Wiley’s family, he gets better while Dr. Wiley withdraws and loses it. Some truth there under the comedy!
