I knew I wanted to watch Woman in Gold the second I saw the trailer. First, it stars Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds. I love both of them, so I knew it wouldn’t disappoint. It didn’t. It was an incredible movie based on a true story of one woman’s battle against the government to recover her family possessions that had been seized by Nazis during WWII. I laughed, I cried, I loved it.
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I had previously downloaded (for free) on Kindle (through my Amazon Prime) the book , The Accidental Caregiver, which is a non-fiction account of the rest of this woman’s life years after the time of the movie! It is wonderful as well and the two together give a wonderful account of an amazing woman!!!

Just FYI, an interesting note…Her son (the Helen Mirren character) lives on Day Island. When the movie opened at the Grand, he gave a Q&A about his mother’s life.

Wasn’t this just the greatest movie?! I loved how they handled the topic, the research, and all the steps to resolving it. Such a penetrating look into those times. Such excellent work by the cast.
