I was ordering something on Amazon when a promo for the new Amazon series The Last Post popped up on the screen. And well, being a fan of all things British I’ve decided to check it out this weekend during my down time. Right now The Last Post is available with Amazon Prime.
“In the mid-60s, a unit of Royal Military Police officers and their families deal with the challenges of politics, love and war in the shimmering heat of British-controlled Aden.”
Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

Hi, Mavis — Two thoughts for you on cold weather hand issues. One, try Neutrogena’s Norwegian Formula Handcream (I like the unscented); pretty good at healing up those oh-so-tender thumb cracks. Two, try Bag Balm. Really. Yes, it was originally to prevent sore udders in milking animals, but other kinds of mammal skin (i.e. ours!) appreciate the soothing, too. You can certainly find it at your local feed store, if not in the local grocery/pharmacy. Comes in a little (or large!) green can. Third, get yourself some really good leather gloves for wood handling. Look at the versions for small man hands; most of what’s made for women is too wimpy. Nice stacking job!! (Got the giant bottle of ibuprofen yet??)

I cannot stand the stench of Bag Balm, unless I am desperate.

When this came across my feed, the words THE LAST POST jumped out at me and I almost screamed out loud! I thought NOOOOO! This can’t be the end of Mavis’ posts. She just moved to NE and has an awesome house to show us and projects and a garden and chickens! She can’t leave us now! But then I actually read what you wrote and calmed down. Whew. That was a close one!

Haha me too!

I have watched The Last Post series and found it to be very good. It lead to some research and some geography, so it presented learning moments, as well, along with dialogue with my husband. I have a world map on the wall beside my desk so I can view places easily when questions arise.

I too panicked when I saw “The Last Post.” I feel like I have found my kindred spirit. I would be out digging but we have 12 inches of snow.

I’ll definitely check this out when we get home at the end of the month. My godmother and her husband were based in Aden at this time he was an RAF MP. When I’ll get time not sure as after five months away I think I will be entrenched in the garden! Daughter has planted seeds for me but will need to get potatoes in garden allowing.
