Stranger Things. It seems everywhere I turn people are talking about this Netflix show. It didn’t seem like my kind of show at all what with all the creepy things and monsters and gore and overall scariness, but The Girl binged watched Season 1 and 2 and told me I HAVE to watch it because she wants to watch it again. She said it’s soooo soooo good {with that many “Os”} and that all children of the 80s will love it as will everyone else.
And she also might have mentioned how I’m one of like a small handful of people on planet earth who haven’t watched it. So this weekend we’re settling in to binge watch both seasons. Good thing it’s going to be cold so I can just say my nose was cold when I hide under my blanket in terror. She swears it’s not so bad, I think I’ll have nightmares forever. Who’s right?
Have you watched it? Am I going to freak out? Is it as awesome as they say? Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it {it’s only on Netflix}, or tell me what you thought if you’ve seen it.
Peace out Girl Scouts & have yourself a great weekend,
~Mavis

I found it more creepy than scary. Enjoy!

I’m the biggest sissy EVAR and I LOVED it. Give it three episodes, it takes a little to warm up.

I too was encouraged by our older “kids” to watch these shows. They know I’m not a fan of blood/guts/horror. A few of these episodes are now becoming more truth than fiction. That’s the scariest part….

My husband and I LOVE Fringe. We have watched the series a few times and there are a few episodes that spook me to no end. When Stranger Things came out, I was out of town so he binged it alone and said if I was still spooked by a few Fringe episodes, this was not for me. So good luck!

Season One was creepier than season two, I found…but yeah, although I enjoyed the show, I DID have nightmares several nights. It’s really good but a trifle unsettling, so if that bothers you…you may have a bit of trouble with this one. Still worth watching though!!

We watched it at the behest of our son, he and his sister had watched and enjoyed Stranger Things. We ended up watching all the first series in a week in July and caught up with the second series on Netflix just before we came away. There was one episode of series two that I thought was a bit out of synch but otherwise it gripped us. It’s a little weird, not really scary! And who knows???……….

We loved it, thought Winona Ryder did a great job playing a distraught and determined mom. Not gory, not ghost story or demons. Just a good story like an early Dean Koontz story.
Speaking of Dean Koontz, have you ever read “Watchers” or “Lightening “? I have enjoyed them a couple of times over the years.

We just finished Season 2 and enjoyed it just as much as season 1! It does keep you on the edge of your seat but not so scary just intense!
Enjoy!

Grew up in the 80’s , this show was sooooo good! I hate scary shows and this one is definitely creepy but we loved it.
Gloria says
Mavis, please post a follow up. I HATE scary but have heard good things. I think real life brings its own worries I don’t need my entertainment to worry me too. Let us know what you think. Whatsoever is pure, lovely, and of good report; think on these things. I try!

I loved it! Not too scary and it is suspenseful! Can’t wait for another season!
Shari says
Don’t form an opinion about Steve until the end.
Karin says
It’s creepy but not really scary. And I LOVE the 1980’s nostalgia. The houses, clothes, cars, etc… are so accurate to my childhood memories!
Lanie says
My daughters talked me into it too. It’s not my kind of show, but I liked it.
Candy C. says
Excellent show. Be certain from the beginning and then you can watch Beyond Stranger Things if you want to see the actor kids screen tests and stuff..but only after you have watched season 2.
Dana says
It’s great! Haven’t finished Season 2 yet.
Kat says
My youngest daughter insisted I watch it! So thankful. I absolutely loved it!!!
Linda says
Hi Mavis,
My daughter, like yours, said, “Mom, you have to watch this series on Netflix…you’ll love it!” Coming from her…who despises scary movies, I decided to give it a go…& LOVED it!!
Enjoy watching with your daughter! Moments to hang out with your daughter is enough excuse to at least watch a few episodes…but I think you’ll be hooked! Enjoy!

I love that Dustin has (my hometown) a Waupaca, WI shirt on.

Really enjoyed the 2 seasons, which I binge watched. Didn’t think was my thing, but was so wrong about that!
Nan says
I watched season 1 and honestly am not tempted to watch season 2- maybe when there is nothing else I want to strream. I didn’t find it scary at all though. Now I couldn’t wait to watch the last season of Longmire- such a good show and no longer on boohoo.
Tiffany says
Not really scary. A little creepy with a few jump scare moments but that’s it. I watched Season 1 and have no desire to continue watching.
Carrie says
I hate scary movies too but my friends insisted I try watching them. I watched the first two episodes this weekend. I was creeped out a little but I like the story line so far so I’ll keep watching. I just have to watch a comedy before going to bed!

I’m looking forward to hearing about this show. My son and daughter in law have been telling me they think I’d like it. I’ve heard about it all over the place. I just have a hard time with scary movies, especially ones that involve kids. It will be interesting to hear what you think about it 🙂
