Listen up ladies and gents. This OCD gardener is in heaven after discovering this tip. It’s so simple, I’m not sure how I never thought of it before, but now that I’ve used it, there’s no going back!
I’m about to tell you how to create the prettiest garden planting plot in the history of ever using, wait for it, a muffin tin. Typically when we talk muffin tins on this blog, we’re talking about warm carbs, but today, muffin tins are all about the veggies!
If you, like me, are seeking an organized garden, simply whip out your muffin tin when planting. It’s easy to create impressions by pressing a muffin tin, open side up, firmly into your soil. That will make indents of perfectly spaced holes to plant your seeds or starters in. You are basically creating a perfectly plotted map of where to plant. I’m seriously giddy about this.
I used the normal muffin tin for most of my planting, but switched to a mini muffin pan for smaller seeds like radishes, lettuce etc. If you’ve been doing this for years, we need to have words about you holding out on me. But if you’ve never heard of it, I totally suggest you give it a try. Makes for one pretty garden!
Happy planting,
~Mavis

how timely this is!!! I planned on planting more carrots and kale the next few days and always hate how the little seeds always tumble into each other in the farrow ( I used all my seed tapes already). Digging out the mini-muffin tin tonight!!!

If all else fails and you simply can’t find your muffin tin and egg carton will achieve similar results. Just skip every other indent and you will have 4 inch spacing.

I thought I was the only Gardener who was guilty of ripping up a few plants to “transplant” a few inches away because they were out of alignment. Now I guess there is no excuses with a chalk line and muffin tin. Thanks for the perfect tip.
