I can’t remember the last time I was super sick… And let me tell you Bob, getting strep throat is no fun. No fun at all. Especially when you’re older and have a to-do list about a mile long.
Luckily though, after about 10 days of having to deal with strep + a cold/flu/cooties I have turned the corner. I’m only operating at about 70% right now, but I’m feeling much better than I did.
I think it probably had something to do with all the {medically necessary} ice cream and chicken soup I consumed.
Other than beans and weenies and a bowl of pasta, I’m not exactly sure what the HH survived on last week. Who knows. I’m pretty sure it takes longer than a week to contract scurvy so he’ll probably be fine.
The good news is, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and I’m looking forward to going on a nice walk today with the puggle princess.
I think I’ll wait until about mid week or so to head to the store to load up on groceries. Now that my throat is starting to feel better, I’m ready to hit up the produce section again and whip up some big salads.
I haven’t checked the ads… Are there any good deals out there this week? Anything new at Costco? I feel like I should pop in and see.

It has been 50 years since I had strep throat. As a child, one of five, it would run through the house. Mama had a cousin who brought his children by on the way from the doctor’s office every time they had strep! Mama was furious and ended that. I usually got strep by hearing the word. I hope reading it does not infect me. I am glad you are better because it is not fun and can be dangerous.

I’ve never been as sick as when I have strep throat. I feel absolutely horrible and understand exactly! Glad you’re on the mend.

Three of my grandchildren started school last year when we were just kind of coming out of the pandemic. THEY CAUGHT EVERYTHING and then politely gave it to us! This school year was still bad in the fall. So far, only one case of strep this year in one child and that was last week. I pray that we don’t all start passing it around again! Keep eating that ice cream Mavis! I think I’m going to go buy some just for an extra added boost to the immune system!

I’ve never had strep and the last time I got really sick was in 2005. At age 77 I think that’s pretty good. This past week was school vacation however and someone brought home a 24hour bug from school, got it herself, then I got it and boy oh boy I couldn’t move off the couch for a day. Right on with the medically necessary stuff, that and tea and toast help me. This bug took away our appetites for almost a week.

Do you know where you caught it? Glad you’re feeling better.

Yet another recall at Trader Joe’s…they seem to have them frequently

I’ve noticed them lately. Seems strange and so often. I’d rather take my chanch with chocolate than veggies.

I was at Costco today – for berries and salad stuff. I got a case of Izze that was on sale (I think). I tried Aussie bites too (not on sale ) that were interesting (decent and nice enough with a cup of tea – but not amazing)

Is that your homemade chicken and rice soup? Searching your recipes.
