Just when you thought we were all giveawayed out after those crazy 24 Days of Christmas Giveaways, I’m ringing in the new year with one of my favorite giveaways EVER! I’m so excited about it I’m having trouble typing. Yep, it’s that awesome!

How to Plant a Meyer Lemon Tree Container

It’s no secret how much I love Lemon, my Meyer Lemon Tree I ordered from Fast Growing Trees. Lemon has been everything I hoped for in a tree and more. It was love at first sight because I didn’t have to haul her from the store, get the back of our truck filthy or worry about her tipping over on the way home. Nope, all I had to do was plop down at my computer, find the tree I wanted on Fast Growing Trees and with a few simple clicks, my tree was on my doorstep within days.  The experience was so awesome, in fact,  I was kicking myself that I’d wasted years getting trees the hard way!

In addition to how simple it was to order the tree, and how speedy fast the shipping was, the tree was packed so well it arrived in perfect shape and ready to be planted. The root ball was in perfect shape too and there were already tons of lemon buds, which was a total bonus I wasn’t expecting!

Plus, their customer service was awesome, too! Right after they shipped my tree, Pam over at Fast Growing Trees sent me an email with planting instructions so I’d know just how to plant Lemon.

    I love, LOVE, LOVE Meyer Lemons and have been totally envious since you got yours (but very sad that the babies died). After you mentioned that you got lemons at Costco (which I didn’t realize that they had) I headed on over and had one every day in hot water – plus ate the remaining – they are so sweet!!! I did make some Christmas desserts for my neighbors and some lemon salt, too. I would LOVE to have a Meyer Lemon Tree (and name her Lola)!!

    I would totally buy 2 banana trees. We’ve already bought the 4 in 1 Apple, cherry, avocado, clemitine, imd lime/lemon tree from them. Hopefully will get some limes/lemons this year. We’ve had such a mild winter I doubt we’ll get apples.

    I was just at the plant nursery yesterday! I’d be hard pressed to decide between a pomegranate tree or a 4 in 1 Apple. They even have free shipping in California right now. Yay!

    Wow, this would be an amazing gift. I love fruit! My 3 year ate all my strawberries last year including the green ones. It is a really hard decision because I want so much of it. After looking through it all I would have to say I would go with 2 varieties of grapes. We love jam here and fresh fruit. It’s hard though because the kiwi seems like a good choice, so does the clementine and lemon tree. I may just use the hundred dollars towards a bigger purchase and get all that I listed.

    I ordered a lemon-lime tree from them last year. The lemon half is doing great, I have 3 very green lemons at the moment. The lime side died off entirely.     I would get some raspberries. After my mom passed away, my aunt sent me some money to buy something to plant to remember her by. Since she loved raspberries, I planted them. Then my stupid chickens got out and went and dug them up. Replant, and repeat. Until there was no hope left. Someday, I’m going to replant and fence better. I don’t know if it’ll be the same though.

    I’d have to go for a pink dogwood tree! My mom had always wanted one, so a few years ago we got her one for Mother’s Day…but rabbits chewed up all the lower bark and the poor little tree never made it. 🙁

    I’ll go with a lemon.
    Hope they will have some dwarf ones…as the power lines go through our back yard and had a peach/apple they cut down and suppose to replace them with dwarfs..so will see.

    Ohmygosh. I didn’t even know that place existed. I am pretty sure I’d buy the banana tree. We live in the frosty and cold Midwest. We moved here 8 years ago after Hurricane Katrina blew us out of our home in New Orleans. We had a banana tree in our backyard there, and it was heaven. I bet I could grow on here, if I move it inside in winter. It’d be like a blast from the past.

    Considering that Royal Empress trees are apparently considered invasive species in the United States ( *sad* ), I’d like a lovely little citrus tree (so many to pick from!) now for my tiny Chicago flat, and perhaps a fiery Japanese maple to keep me company if I ever find a place with a bit more planting room 🙂

    Without a doubt, I would love a Cold Hardy Avocado Tree. I recommend Fast-Growing Trees.com, too. I’ve never ordered a tree for myself – yet, but I ordered a memorial tree for a friend at his wife’s passing from them. What a great company, with excellent customer service.

    I would get a Meyer lemon tree because I just love lemons. Period. I order extra ones in my tea and with fish when we go out to eat, and then send my husband to the restroom (because he can’t stand to just sit and watch me eat them) and eat all of the lemon wedges, one-at-a-time! So good! And they are SOOO expensive in stores! As I have told you before, I grew up in California and we had 5 lemon trees in our yard. Just loved plucking one off the tree and eating it like other kids ate oranges. Living in the Midwest now makes them almost a delicacy. I have been watching the adventures of ‘Mavis and the Meyer Lemon,’ hoping that you could actually pull off growing a lemon tree in a pot. Watching to see if maybe, just maybe, there might be a chance it would be something I could do too. Winning this contest would be SO COOL! (My very own lemon tree. *sigh*) Yes, I would definitely get a Meyer Lemon Tree. Pick me, Mavis! PICK ME!!

    Oh, man! I browse the Fast Growing Trees site all the time! I just built a house in a planned community, so there is NOTHING here. I seriously NEED some edible landscaping – cherry trees, apple tree, blueberry bushes, etc. We also recently learned that we need to set up some king of windbreak because even brand new double hung windows aren’t as airtight as 10 y/o casements!

    I would go with the 4 in 1 apple tree. My husband and I used to go pick at a elderly neighbors house every year. Sadly he passed away and the house was sold. The new owners cut down 12 apple trees! I wanted to cry! Even if they didn’t pick the apples myself and other neighbors gladly would have.

    It is nice to dream! It is difficult to choose from the many lovely items, however, I would choose the cold hardy avocado tree. I have a very small lot where I already grow blackberries, strawberries, and grapes in addition to my garden. Would love to have a “tree.”

    Last year we planted 2 apple trees and 2 blueberry bushes. A very small start for my plans to grow more of our own. I would love to add a peach tree, more blueberry bushes, strawberries, raspberries, maybe blackberries. If I won this I would get the peach tree.

    I think I’d put it towards a 4-in-1 cherry tree. Need to read up more on chill time, though. If cherries are not good for my area, I’d probably go with a peach tree since I know those grow well here.

    The Giant Swallowtail caterpillars tend to leave our little lime tree leafless, so I’d definitely go with a Meyer Lemon as well. Lemons for us and plenty more leaves for the beautiful butterfly caterpillars that we share our tree with. It’d be a win-win! Thanks for the chance, Mavis!

    I work in an urban community garden and we’re always trying to show the residents how to cook without salt. I would choose a lemon tree to plant in the garden and use as demonstration on how lemon juice can be a great salt substitute.

    Being that I have limited space in the city and I only have 1/4 arce in southern Idaho to work with I would go for smaller high yield items like the 3-in-1 Blueberry bush or BrazelBerries® Raspberry Shortcake Bush and Peach Sorbet Blueberry Bush. Either option will work great at my new home.

    Growing up in Southern California meant we had lemon, orange and avocado trees in our back yard, now I live in Seattle and I really miss being able to pick a yummy, warm lemon right off the tree. Sooo, I would choose a meyer lemon tree, since avocado doesn’t stand a chance here.

(I bought my doublewide home that sits in a rural mobile home park- big private yards but no in ground vegetable gardens due to underground wires and pipes.)     I would get the Meyer Lemon too. Have you ever tried Ohio Lemon Pie? It is tart and dense and may not be for everyone, but around here when Meyer Lemons show up (from the store because I don’t have a tree) Ohio Lemon Pie gets made and it is an event. (We use the Joy of Cooking’s recipe, but I am sure there are some on the web too)

    I would order the 5 in one apple tree. I have been looking at these for forever! Cross pollination in one package! I have one apple tree left and it flowers every year, but without a pollinator, it doesn’t grow fruit. My dogs ate the other apple tree…..and my crabapple tree…..and my chokecherry tree……even though they were wrapped.

    Needless to say, we now have our garden locked up like Fort Knox, hot wire and everything.

    I would get the Wonderful Pomegranate tree. As a child growing up we had a very large pomegranate tree, it was taller than our home. It had the most amazing orange colored blossoms and gorgeous red fruit. The tree produced enough fruit for our family of 7 and enough to share with neighbors each season. I would LOVE to have a beautiful pomegranate tree again in my yard for my family 🙂
