Update: This Giveaway Is Now Closed
If you’ve been keeping up with my blog this year then you most likely know that in January, I went on a nearly month long adventure to Scotland ALL BY MYSELF.
And as with any journey, getting there was half the fun. I took all manner of transportation getting there too! Buses, big planes, small planes, taxies and even an overnight ferry from Aberdeen to the Shetland Islands. Every leg of the journey was so much fun!
The main part of my trip though was to the tiny island of Fair Isle {home of Fair Isle sweater and pretty much everything knitting related} where I stayed at the Fair Isle Studio.
On the second to last day on the island, I had tea with Mati Ventrillon as well as a few other Fair Isle knitters.
Not only does Mati create the most amazing sweaters and scarves, she also wrote a book {complete with patterns!} on Fair Isle knitting. {You can find her website HERE.}
Each holiday season I like to give away a few of my favorite things that I’ve discovered over the past year. And this year, I’ve decided to give away all handmade items I’ve purchased directly from the makers.
Which leads me to today’s giveaway post!
Giveaway #1
One lucky person will win a hand knit Fair Isle scarf by Mati Ventrillon {just like the one pictured above}.
Giveaway #2
And one lucky person will win a copy of Mati’s book; Knitting From Fair Isle.
I figured not everyone is a knitter, and some people would rather win a scarf and others would want the book so they could make their own scarf. In any event, I was happy to support a small business and see the purchase go directly to the artist.
All you have to do to enter this giveaway is let me know if you are interested in receiving Mati’s Fair Isle Scarf or her book, Knitting From Fair Isle. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.
Life, it’s pretty complicated sometimes, so I like to keep my giveaways pretty simple around here. Scarf or book… You choose!
Rules:
1 entry per person/ip address. If you cheat, you will totally be disqualified. {Comments may take an hour or two to be cleared, so please be patient}.
This giveaway ends Saturday, December 2nd @8 pm EST and the winner will be announced on Sunday, December 3rd. You will be notified via email and have 48 hours to claim your prize. If you do not claim your prize within 48 hours, the prize will be forfeited.
This giveaway prize can be shipped anywhere in the world.
Good Luck! I hope you win!
~Mavis

Hello Mavis,
I have followed your blog for about 12 years. Ever since we left Juneau, Alaska and moved to Oregon.
We now live outside of Vancouver WA.
Closer to our daughter and baby grandson.
I have enjoyed your writings so much and this is the first time I have commented, mostly because I am trying to learn to knit myself
So, in saying that I would love either the knitting book or the scarf. They are both pretty incredible.
I am certainly far from knitting anything like this but I am determined to try! A dear friend, also from Juneau who she and her husband moved to WA, is a master knitter. She is my support and teacher.
We have known each for over 30 years.
Anyway, thanks for the daily posts, even if and when you would like a break.
I love all that you share and I hope to get to beautiful Maine some day!!
Happy Holidays!
