Yesterday was sort of a snow globe kind of day.

We woke up to several inches of snow on the ground and it just kept on coming until around noon. It was lovely and peaceful and since I’m not the one in charge of shoveling snow around here, I stayed inside where it was nice and warm and pulled out my seed packets and started to do a little bit of planning for this year’s vegetable garden. 

And that’s when I found the seed collections from Botanical Interests I ordered last month so I could do a little garden giveaway. 🙂

Curious minds want to know…. Which collection would you like to win? The Basic Bounty Vegetable Collection, the Chefs Herb Garden Collection the Butterfly Banquet Collection or the Heat Tolerant Vegetables Collection?

Just answer that one question below in the comment section here on the blog and you’re entered to win. Life, it’s pretty complicated sometimes, so I like to keep things simple around here.

    I’d say heat tolerant. Wisconsin is known as the Frozen Tundra (windchill is -25 at the moment), but we get Florida-like hot and humid summer days (sometimes as early as Memorial Day weekend, sometimes not until July) and I’ve lost some plants to that weather.

    I’d love the basic bounty collection. You turned me onto Botanical Interests through your blog, and I have found them to be the best seeds! Last night we had some of the purple beans that we sowed, watered and I harvested and froze all through August. They turn from purple to green when you blanch them!

    What a great grouping of seeds! They are all good choices, but the heat tolerant ones have my curious eye to try. Living in central Oklahoma, where gardening is always a gamble, heat tolerance would be a good thing. We are also waiting to see how our first time “lasagne garden” works out. There has been so little rain this winter we are having to put water on it. Been trying to garden for the last few years, and finally, we had a bumper crop last summer that our neighbors and friends shared in. Reading your blog has been an inspiration. Thank you.

    We would love the vegetable or butterfly set. My goal this year is to figure out how to make my garden more productive. I also never know what exactly to plant and this would solve that problem!
    I also need to work on our flower beds. I tend to go with all perennials, because I am no green thumb, but a bunch of flowering plants would definitely make it more enjoyable and get me to experiment.

The crazy weather here has now decided to freeze come Sunday morning and all my heat loving plants, green beans, tomatoes, basil, green peppers, will die. It is just too hard to cover everything.     I just went through my seeds today and made notations on my calendar for when I need start things.

    I live in West TN. We have the ability to have all four seasons in one week, sometimes one day. For example 7am… balmy then 11am 1 inch of snow.     The Butterfly Banquet Collection to rebuild the neighborhood butterfly habitat that has been destroyed when the new neighbors moved in and pulled up all the milkweed cause the plants were “ugly”. The HH and I tried to save some (milkweed doesn’t really like to be transplanted) and will find out this year if we were successful.

    The basic bounty I would love, I tried a butterfly seed collection last year with not many results. Last year we had our first garden ever and we kind of just threw seeds in the ground to see what we could grow but I think we over watered. A ten foot tomato plant grew out of my compost pile so we will try the lasagna garden this year. Soil doesn’t seem to have many nutrients. I’m still excited, this stuff is pretty much hit and miss but I had plenty of basil and tomatoes so no complaints. Thank you.
