It’s a lovely day for a giveaway… Don’t you think?
I came across the Kitten and The Bear cookbook a few months ago and have been wanting to try out some of their unusual canning {and scone} recipes ever since.
Kitten and The Bear is a small batch scone and jam shop in Toronto Canada and after seeing all the glorious varieties they offer, I’ve decided I must go there and check out the shop in person this summer.
In the meantime though, I’m excited to get the chance to whip up some of their jams… Jams like banana bourbon and vanilla bean, strawberry rhubarb pie, peach basil, the flavor combinations in their cookbook look amazing!
And their scone recipes are just as unusual too! Gingerbread scones? Really? All the recipes look so interesting!!
Who doesn’t love a giveaway? Especially one that involves jam and scone recipes? Weirdos, that’s who!
So I’ve decided to give away 3 Kitten and The Bear cookbooks… So you can try out some of their recipes with me. 🙂 Doesn’t that sound like a fine spring project… Making jam and scones?
Yes, yes it does!
I figured it might take a while to go through all the jam recipes and find the one you want to start with so I’m also giving away 3 jars of my favorite Tiptree Tawny Orange Marmalade as well.
You know, to go with the first batch of scones you’re going to make.
And what would scones and marmalade be without a proper cup of tea?
So I’m also giving away a few boxes of my favorite Fortnum and Mason Victoria Grey tea as well.
Doesn’t that sound lovely? Wouldn’t you love to win the cookbook, marmalade and tea?
Giveaway – Three lucky people will each win:
- 1 Kitten and the Bear Cookbook by Sophie Kaftal
- 1 jar Tiptree Tawny Orange Marmalade
- 1 box Fortnum & Mason Victoria Grey Tea Bags
All you have to do to enter this giveaway is let me know what your favorite things about spring is. That’s it. 🙂 How easy is that!?

Daffodils and smell of fresh mowed grass,
Kathy says
I love the burst of colors in Spring — the daffodils, the tulips, the cherry blossom trees. It’s something new every day! But what I love most of all is the way our neighborhood comes back to life: people working in their yards, friends walking by, and families stopping to take a book or two from our Little Library for children. So much fun to share in the party of Spring!

Spring is my favorite season of all. I love that everything is waking up after a long winter. The first snowdrops and daffodils, and redbuds popping. The smell of fresh soil after a rain. The birds, oh and the spring peepers carrying on the chorus into the night. Starting and planting seeds. The list goes on. I guess my favorite part is the newness, a fresh start.

I love watching the forsythias at the back of my fence burst into wild and vibrant yellow. It seems almost magical. Soon to follow afterwards is my neighbor’s 100 plus year old tulip tree come into bloom. I open my windows and the tree literally provides a beautiful fragrance to my whole house. Plus, it is absolutely gorgeous!
I am waiting for the tulip tree as we speak, as my forsythia hedges turned yellow two days ago!! They are so cheerful and I adore them.

I live in Michigan, and I truly love all four seasons, but this time of year where we get a 70 degree “teaser” day in March and then are experiencing winter storm warning in April gets frustrating….until I see the little green buds of my tulips coming up and is confirms what my heart knows….Spring is coming!! I love all the spring flowers and even more so seeing the return of the Robins!

The final stanza of “Spring” by Christina Rossetti summarizes what I love about this time of year:
There is no time like Spring,
Like Spring that passes by;
There is no life like Spring-life born to die,
Piercing the sod,
Clothing the uncouth clod,
Hatched in the nest,
Fledged on the windy bough,
Strong on the wing:
There is no time like Spring that passes by,
Now newly born, and now
Hastening to die.
Also, I am eagerly watching our newly installed birdhouse with hopes that a little bird family will move in. Fingers crossed!
