I am truly grateful for all the wonderful comments you’ve left over the years {and continue to leave} as well as all the tips, crazy observations and just randomly funny stuff or encouraging words. I think you’re pretty AWESOME and I love this little space we’ve carved out on the internet together.
Wishing you the happiest of Thanksgivings,
♥ Mavis and Lucy {and the HH, The Girl, and Monkey Boy too}

I was just starting to garden several years ago, and I saw a Pinterest pin of a potato tower you were going to build. And down the rabbit hole I went!! I never did try the potato tower, but I did build 3 square-foot beds (small ones, 2 are 2×2 and one 2×5, it’s all the space I could carve out), and we’ve been eating some home -grown veggies every summer since 🙂 As well an LOVING following your adventures. May this Thanksgiving be cozy and lovely for you all. (all 3 of you…)

happy Thanksgiving Mavis! I have a question, did anyone figure out with the mystery squash was? My sister came to Thanksgiving today and brought her mystery squash which looks exactly like your mystery squash. She was given seeds from someone from a school and was told that they were tomato seeds and when she open the envelope she realized they weren’t tomato seeds. She grew them and ended up with a mystery squash. We didncut it up and roasted it and it seemed like a cross between an acorn and a spaghetti squash. But we still don’t know what it is.

Every. Single. Day. For like, seven years! I know exactly how I found you. I did some mud run/porky dash at Bogus Basin. I was searching for pictures online and you and your buddies had done the run the year prior with WATERMELONS. I clicked on your link/blog and the rest is history. I sent you a flamingo and I even won a contest way back when (I still miss Francisco).
I just love our daily chat…only, they are kind of one sided. You don’t know it but you are a dear friend of mine. Thanks for all you do and share. I’m thankful for you! (I’m still a little bit bummed you moved, two times ago…damn I miss that greenhouse) but I’m happy you’re happy. PS- I’m excited to hang an ornament I purchased from you too. in addition to my computer every day, you will be on my tree!

Hi Mavis hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I don’t think you realize how much your blog is enjoyed by your readers. I came across it a few years ago wondering if I was doing all that I could to save money on groceries (I was). But since then I have enjoyed your gardening and canning advice, the yummy recipes, such beautiful pics (love the covered bridges, yesterdays pic and Lucy’s face wearing those shoes!) lastly the humor that you share just about everyday life. Thanks so much.

I read your blog every day. I found you several years ago when I was looking something up about chickens. Something you wrote about them made you come up in the search. I have been hooked ever since. Enjoy your stories, many of your recipes. I do miss your adventures with Mrs. Hillbilly. Oh and yes I did make the New England style Rolls and they turned out great.
