Hello and Happy Thanksgiving!
Originally it was just going to be me and the HH for Thanksgiving, but The Girl let us know she was able to get this weekend off and so now we’ve decided to wait and have our Thanksgiving feast this weekend with her instead.
Plus, as an added bonus, she’ll be camping out here all weekend as well. Yee-Haw! I’ve been working on a list of things for us to do since she called:
- Take her on my new walking trail
- Go kayaking
- Make a set of matching jammie pants
- Set up the Christmas tree
- Take a long drive
- Help the HH break up the tile in the entryway {maybe it will go faster if she helps}
- Try a new puff pastry recipe
- Watch movies and eat ice cream
Thanksgiving will be a little different this year, as it will be for a lot of people, but hey, I’m thankful for all that we have and that we’re all alive and doing well. And in the end, that’s all that really matters to me.
Wishing you all the best this on Thanksgiving, whether you’re celebrating today or this weekend,
~Mavis

Woah…you really filled up her weekend off!
We’re doing a bonfire & roasting marshmallows so the only thing I’m cooking is chili.

My Mom was a nurse and worked every Thanksgiving so while we were all at home we just ate dinner in the late afternoon. Once we were out of the house it was hard to get everyone together so we started having dinner on Saturday. Some folks ended up having two dinners but was so nice to have a bigger group. Glad the Girl will be able to join you.

That sounds really nice. I’m intrigued that you are kayaking in November. What exactly do you wear? We are summer kayakers but I have always thought about going when it is cold out.
Thanks,
amanda

Happy Thanksgiving no matter what date you use for the feast. I bet that you are sitting on pins and needles until The Girl arrives. Enjoy your time with her.

My best friend always does their family Thanksgiving on the Saturday before the “real” Thanksgiving. She said that with 3 sons, she knew the only way to get them was to make it so they didn’t have to choose. And she always has her choice of places to have the “real” Thanksgiving, because everyone appreciates her flexibility.
This year it is only my husband and I: However; I made apple pies for each of my children, so they didn’t have to think about dessert on top of the holiday meal. Time for me to go check the turkey. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone!

I think it’s a wonderful idea to celebrate early {or late} so everyone can show up and not have to choose what house they are going to have to spend Thanksgiving at.
