If you’re ever in Mid-Coast Maine and you want to visit an amazing and meticulously kept garden, you most checkout the gardens and market at Hedgerow Market in Martinsville, Maine.
I first visited this garden/shop when Mrs. HB was in town a few weeks ago… And since then, I’ve popped by two more times to not only visit the gardens, but to purchase a delicious treat or two. {The have THE BEST key lime tart and salmon spread I’ve ever had!!}.
The shop {which is actually a barn} is filled with home and garden goodies, books, baskets, fresh produce. There are also flowers that are grown on the premises. Plus, if that wasn’t enough, two cases {1 refrigerated and 1 freezer} that are filled with take-away foods.
There is even a picnic table in the garden if you want to stop and enjoy a quick bite there and take in the beautiful raised beds.
During the summer months, Hedgerow even hosts a series of summer shows by a range of Maine artists in their gallery behind the shop.
This season’s line up at Hedgerow Market includes:
- July 2-11 “The Secret Commonwealth,” hooked rugs and paintings by Anne Cox
- July 16-25 “Plant Drawings: Another Way of Seeing,” a memorial exhibition of work by Marla Mazar Carr
- July 30-August 8 “Winter Woods to Summer Shores,” paintings, drawings and sculpture by Banjie Getsinger Nicholas
- August 13-22 “New Narratives,” book arts and paintings by Cynthia Motian McGuirl
- August 27-September 5 “Not Grandma’s Quilts,” art quilts and fabric collage by Anne Walker
- September 10-19 “Earth, Wind & Fire,” ceramic sculptures and encaustic works by Elizabeth Ruskin and Otty Merrill
Hedgerow Market… just another reason to visit Maine. 🙂
Keep Calm and Garden On.
