Hello Monday!
What a crazy few weeks it’s been. Decorating the house, giveaways, having people over, traveling, holiday events around town, cheese, SO MUCH CHEESE.
Is it just me, or has YOUR December been a busy one too? And we’re only half the way through the month!!!
I had forgotten how many things there are to do here in Southern Maine during the holiday season. To put it mildly, it’s been hard to stay focused.
I feel a bit like a little bird with shiny objects everywhere. Looking around, stopping, enjoying, exploring and then realizing that half the day is gone and then spending the rest of it trying to catch up.
Everything has been fun and exciting but also exhausting too. I keep waiting for balance to walk back into my life and I’m not sure when that’s going to happen.
January? February? Maybe what I really need is an epic snow storm where everything shuts down and I can stay in my pajamas for a week and get caught up.
Where is that pause button when I need one? Gaaaa.
Total spent this past week on groceries $129.42 {not pictured, milk, eggs, salad things}
Kiln Guy and The Chef are coming by for a visit later in the week. I think I’ll put out some cheese and crackers. 😉
They’re always so fun to have over because I never know what the conversation is going to center around and they always leave me with a mental boost in the creative department.
Good friends, cheese and conversation. What more could you ask for this time of year?
Do you feel like the past few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind too? Are you looking forward to the {what I hope will be} calm of January too?
What are you doing to stay focused these days? I could use some ideas!!!
Hello Monday. Let’s Go! We can do this.

I drove by your adorable house Saturday. I was driving around with my husband and noticed your decorated fence and I mentioned how I saw an idea like this on a blog
then I looked at the house & realized it was yours. You have fun places to walk to!

Yes! Decorated, wrote out cards, Black Friday shopped my couch and got the tree cut down, put up and trimmed by 12/1-then took off for 10 days visiting Christmas markets in Alsace and Frankfurt with friends. I came home and ran around for 2 more days-then my jet lagged body said, “Rest!” If you loved QC, you would love the French Christmas markets (and Frankfurt’s).
Mavis Butterfield says
Lucky you. Christmas markets are the best!

It has been wild around here! But, I think I have things mostly under control and I’m going to start slowing down a little just so I can appreciate it! Making a list and checking it twice is always helpful! 😉

I’m completely dependent on my list at this point!

Not a good week here last week. Overdue bill from chiropracter; 2 new pairs of dance shoes needed asap for the step-dancer; tree limb fell on car in Wednesdays storm; garage door opener stopped working; dishwasher soap dispenser stopped opening; lost valuable earring which had already been replaced once; checked 2 neighbors homes for storm damage and found dead squirrel in trash bin full of rainwater. BUT, did a good deed for someone in a difficult situation and then…..FOUND earring on bedroom floor next day. Shopping done, wrapping partially done and tree in garage awaiting decoration. And I got a lot of hooking done on Saturday. Glad that week is gone!

Wishes for a good week. Sorry, it’s been so rough.

I just saw a recipe online for Earl Grey Hot Chocolate. I’m goona have to try it! Made me think of you Mavis.
And thank you for turning me onto London Fog. Thats my special treat on the rare occasion I find myself at Starbucks.
Mavis Butterfield says
I’m going to have to look up the earl grey hot chocolate, it sounds interesting! Thanks.

I have to ask, the lobster on trop of the tree – did you and the husband make that? If not, it’s still cool, but if you did it’s extra cool 😉
Mavis Butterfield says
No, but it sure is cool.
