I don’t know what is more exciting. The anticipation of travel, and all the things you have planned to do on your trip, or coming home.
In case you were wondering… YES, you can stuff a winter squash and a sack of onions into your carry on luggage and TSA won’t even bat an eye {the lady behind me in line had a cast iron tea top inside her bag}.
Did you request a free Garnier Fructis Sample? Mine arrived. I love shampoo and conditioner samples. They are perfect for traveling, wouldn’t you agree?
When the HH picked up me from the airport the first thing I asked him was if he harvested any tomatoes while I was gone. His reply? “No, I didn’t see any that were ripe.”
Clearly, the man needs glasses.
I knew I should have harvested that last cabbage before I left! Grrr.
And last but not least, fresh eggs from the Hillbilly’s chickens. Mrs. HB is out of town and wanted to know if we wanted some free eggs {her hens are laying about 5 a day now}. Heck yeah! Do you really think I’d turn down fresh eggs?

Oh no! I am lucky not to have to deal with slugs in my East Coast garden. I also agree that HH definitely needs glasses. Yesterday when I got home from work my eggplant plants were completely wilted because I hadn’t had time to water them in the morning. I asked my husband why he hadn’t watered them and his response was that he didn’t notice…
Quick question, when you moved did you have to give away/sell/eat your chickens?

Surprised they let you cross state lines with fresh produce. I guess the TSA isn’t working with the USDA.

I see you have yellow pear tomatoes, too!
Here is a really delicious recipe I use for Yellow Pear Tomato Salsa.
2 cups yellow pear tomatoes- chopped
1 large red tomato- chopped
1/2 onion- diced
2 garlic cloves- pressed
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
2 Tablespoons lime juice
salt/pepper
Combine all ingredients. I just throw everything in a food processor and give it a few pulses.

Is that variety of tomatoes supposed to have some green on top or did you purposely pick them under-ripe? I ask because my heirloom variety seems to get cracks, spots, etc if I wait for them to fully ripen (or something eats them). Maybe I should pick them a tad early?

The Japanese Black Trifele Tomato always seems to never turn fully red at the top so I pick mine when the bottoms are nice and red. What variety are you growing?

I once flew with a carry on size lunch bag full of frozen hot dogs. Got a strange look but no problem flying. The things you will do when the only hot dog your husband likes is only sold in the Buffalo NY area and you have moved to Kansas.

If we travel out of the state we can’t bring any fresh fruit, vegies, seeds, wood etc back into Tasmania. Its like a whole other country!! (But we also have the luxury of the lack of a lot of the mainland garden pests)
