Making homemade pizza is so much better than that frozen cardboard junkity junk. Plus, it’s really not that tough once you get the crust down to a science. Below is the recipe I’ve been using for years. I love it because it’s pretty simple plus it tastes totally awesome. I found it on Allrecipes.com and only tweaked it a tiny bit.
The beauty is, once you figure out how to make the crust, you can experiment with all sorts of toppings and sauces and even baking methods. You can pretty much go crazy with your pizza!
Ingredients
1 {.25 ounce} package active dry yeast or 2.5 teaspoons if you are using bulk yeast
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Cornmeal
Directions
Preheat oven to 425F. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the oil, sugar, salt and 1-1/2 cups flour. Mix until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a firm dough. Turn onto a floured surface; cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Roll into a 13 inch circle {or rectangle depending on the type of pan you will be using}. Brush a 12 inch pizza pan with olive oil and sprinkle with cornmeal. Transfer dough to prepared pan, building up edges slightly. Do not let rise. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until browned. Add desired sauce and toppings and bake about 10 minutes longer.

I see you are advertising melaleuca renew lotion from Amazon. Just so you are aware this seller on Amazon is NOT suppose to be reselling this lotion. I have been a melaleuca customer for awhile and it is against policy to resell products via the internet or other form of nationally available media.

Everyone can choose whom they wish to patronize, especially on Amazon. I would rather buy from them than someone who tattles and upsets the positive flow of this dialogue.

This recipe is almost identical to the one I use…
I don’t bake the dough first like you said above… will have to try that to see the difference.
Once I started making my own pizza’s there was no way we could return to the expensive and not as good bought pizza’s.
I also started using our home-made relishes as the base. My cousins spicy tomato relish is the best for this!
Mavis says
Homemade relish? I’m going to have to try that as a base. Sounds delish!

and topping with my roasted tomatoes, pesto, roasted garlic so delicious.

I think this is the same recipe I use. We have been making deep dish pizza in a cast iron skillet and baking it on a char coal grill. We haven’t quite perfected our technique yet but it has been fun trying.

I love making pizza! If you make the pizza on an UPSIDE DOWN baking sheet it will be much EASIER to get the pizza out of when it’s done!! Have you ever tried that? It works way better. 🙂

What a great idea hj! I will do this at the weekend, thank you!

I made this for supper tonight. Got a thumbs up from my husband. I will definitely make it again. How do you transfer the rolled out crust to the prepared pan without it falling apart?
