Costco – Free!
It was like I won the lottery. Seriously. Although tempted to buy the giant Costco 92″ bear I decided to spend my whole Costco rebate check on food. Yep. I’m totally exciting that way. 😉
Dave’s Killer Bread for the HH, Doritos and Mrs. Buttersworth’s syrup for Monkey Boy and Dubliner cheese for me. Yay! I also stocked on the basics like flour, sugar, rice, potatoes and onions. My total came to around $207 and so they gave me the rest in cash. Weee! Free groceries and a free lunch. Can’t beat that!
And since I finally broke down and bought an electric skillet last week {did you see that sweet picture I posted in Instagram?} , I also picked up chicken, fresh veggies, eggs and breakfast weenies too. Real food!! Wahooo.
So you are probably wondering what on earth I purchased at Costco in the past year to have earned this rebate check. Well for starters, my parents give us a Costco membership every year for Christmas. Which is totally cool because even though there are a lot of benefits to owning a Costco membership, $110 a year is still kind of high in my opinion.
So what did we buy? Mostly mattresses and bed frames for our place on the East Coast. And of course there’s all that lawn fertilizer, man clothing, and Costco food court weenies the HH buys there throughout the year as well. Oh and a new camera for me {because I busted mine this past summer after owning it for 3 years} and The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Birds graduation present as well. It adds up let me tell you. Quick.
Amazon Subscribe and Save Deals $18.67
I picked up 4 boxes of Kashi Chewy Honey Almond Flax Bars for $8.34 and 4 boxes of Kashi Organic Promise Cereal, Cinnamon Harvest for $10.33. I’m not sure if the deals are still available but I should be receiving my box from Amazon later today.
Smith Brothers Farm – Sponsored
A strange phenomenon is happening at our house. Our milk isn’t getting guzzled down like it use to. I attribute this to not having a kitchen area because of the remodel. Luckily the cabinets and oven should be in place by the weekend {I won’t have a sink or a counter top though} so instead of ordering regular milk this week {we still have 2 cartons in the fridge} I thought I would grab some Cougar Mountain Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough and bake some cookies this weekend. {Fingers crossed!} I also picked up a half gallon of Chocolate Milk for Monkey Boy, and a tub of Greek Gods Honey Yogurt for the HH.
How did you do this week? Have you found anything good at Costco lately?

My parents remodeled their kitchen when I was a senior in high school. It took FOREVER (like 6+ months) because there was a lot of repair and such to do in order to even begin the transformation. Anyway, I remember my mom setting up her ironing board in the living room as well as part of the old counter top and creating a makeshift kitchen. She had a couple electric burner/hotplate type things, electric skillet, crock pot, microwave, toaster. She did the dishes in the bathroom tub. We also ate out way too much and I probably gained a good 20 pounds that year just from not having access to the healthiest options….not that I was a healthy eater at 17 anyway, but still. =) Long story short, I feel ya! Here’s to hoping your kitchen gets done very quickly and that you LOVE it.

Thanks Krista. Meanwhile, I will never take a fully-functioning kitchen for granted again. 🙂

I think the extra cash from the Costco should be subtracted from this weeks spent for food area. Just a thought 🙂
