Leftovers.
Corn on the cob, Aidell’s weenies, a half eaten wedge of brie cheese, and a few other random things thrown on a platter and eaten outside on the picnic table. Works for me!
Malt-O-Meal with brown sugar, banana slices and dried cranberries… it’s my favorite way to start the day {unless of course there is pie}.
We had some leftover bread and I suggested to the HH he should make some croutons. And so he did! Plus I got him to whip up a batch of my favorite Copy Cat Panera Tomato Bisque. What a keeper, right?
And then after only a few days off from the Blackstone Griddle, he was back at it again. This time around he made fried rice…
Grilled cheese sandwiches…
And Hawaiian teriyaki burgers.
There were also sheet pan party nachos last week with leftover steak tips I had squirreled away in the freezer.
And French toast with bananas… All this from my personal chef! Who needs to go out when you can stay home and place your order from across the room?
Head Tide Oven $43
I sent the HH out the door with a list of errands and one of them was to stop by Head Tide Oven for a loaf of bread and a pie. Well, he came back with 2 loaves of bread, 2 cookies and blueberry pie. 🙂 The cookies were gobbled up in 2 hours, the pie in a day and the bread we are still working on. Real bakery items… made with real ingredients… by a person who truly loves what they are doing… you can’t beat that!
The HH’s Scammaford Shopping Trip $19.12
And last but not least, I had no idea there were “Deluxe Gold” pineapple slices… did you? I couldn’t tell a difference from the regular pineapple slices we usually buy, but what do I know. I guess my pallet for canned goods isn’t that refined. 🙂
It was a good week for food! Lot’s of tasty treats and our old neighbors, the Kiln Guy and the Chef stopped by for lunch on Saturday.
How about you? Did you eat anything exciting this past week? Have you had your fill of grilled {or griddled} items for the summer yet? Curious minds want to know.
Have a great Monday everyone,
~Mavis

I made a BBQ rotisserie chicken on my Weber grill yesterday and it came out fabulous.
I love cooking outside and the way that creates less mess and dishes in the kitchen, as well as not heating up the kitchen. I wish I had a personal chef like you!

Nothing as thrilling as the assortment you’ve been having at your house!
The weather here in PNW is scorching hot and I sure don’t feel like heating up the house to make dinner but with two hungry adult males living in this house it’s hard to avoid. BBQ’ing outdoors in 115 degree weather doesn’t sound appealing either. Maybe we will just starve:) JK
I have some ground hamburger meat that needs to be used so that will force me to grill away tonight. Fun times!

not sure if you’ve tried making popcorn on the blackstone griddle yet — saw a screenshot from tiktok…

Oh my word… hopefully my husband doesn’t see your comment. 😉

Also burning up in the PNW. Ugh. Salads here. Taco, chicken, whatever. Chilled pie and coffee for breakfast, too hot for lunch. Looking for a good ice cream maker.

You eat very well! And a personal chef, too
We had your 10 can Taco Soup for dinner tonight (thank you)with a bit of broccoli salad. I went out to the garden and cut off 2 big broccoli heads last night. So much better than store bought, the taste is amazing! I love summer.

Those Open Nature Brioche buns are the best! I get the hot dog buns and use them with my carrot hotdogs. Have you ever had a carrot hotdog? They are delicious! Check out Leite’s Culinaria for the recipe.

Picked my first jalapeño of the year and so I made your No Knead Jalapeño and Cheese Bread again. We love it. I really should make it more often even if I have to buy a jalapeño.

When it is blazing hot: shredded wheat for dinner, with ice cold milk!

I just have to say that you are one lucky woman to be blessed with a DH that not only cooks (his meals look delicious) but also is one talented guy when it comes to remodeling, gardening and the like…..good for you, Mavis.

Hey, Mavis. North-central PA reader, here. When you said you “squirreled away” beef, I had to giggle. I, too, squirrel away bits of stuff… I harvested some turnips and radishes this week for dehydrating, and then I stripped the greens, chopped them, and cooked them on the stove for a couple of hours with a wee bit of celery, garlic and onions, water, and Easter ham bits and juice that I had “squirreled away.” At the end, I added some cannellini beans, red pepper, and seasoned with hot sauce and black pepper. We usually eat this beans-and-greens mixture over polenta, but Red Lobster cheddar biscuit mix was on sale, and I had a coupon, so it was more of a delicious, peasanty gruel-and-bread-to-dip kind of meal, and I served with half of a baked sweet potato.
The squirreling away stuff is even funnier because my MIL, who lives next door to us in the NE PA woods, feeds a squirell we’ve dubbed “Fat Squirrel.” She recently told me that he prefers Breakfast Biscuits to mixed nuts!
The Southern dish is all the cooking I’ve done… With temps in the 90s, heat index around 113, and the HH working in a freezer all day (he’s a butcher), he, strangely, has wanted winter meals and made chicken and biscuits in the oven yesterday, despite the fact that we don’t do AC.
I saw your post today about ice cream and decided to support a local small business instead of making my own and made the 10 mile trip to town…(The Frog Hut, Wellsboro, PA – if you ever decide to visit the PA Grand Canyon, be sure to check them out).

Ha ha. I think I would prefer breakfast Biscuits to mixed nuts as well. 🙂
