Have you ever seen the movie Groundhog Day? Ya, well…
Ever since my husband bought his Blackstone Griddle, it’s been groundhog day around here. We ate cheeseburgers THREE TIMES last week {and I hear they’re on the menu again for tonight}. Seriously, he’s even making Lucy little cheeseburgers for dinner. He’s lost his mind.
I finally got a break though because on Friday it rained and he couldn’t go outside so I made Mel’s Drunken Beans.
They were so good, I had them with a fried egg the next day.
But then the skies cleared up and it was back to griddle food again.
And pie. Burgers and pie, that’s mostly what I eat now.
Head Tide Oven $47
This week the HH made the bakery run and came back with a lemon thyme custard pie, a loaf of dark rye sourdough, an almond bar and another delicious pan forte for me. I told him to remember to ask how much the pies were and he did. Pies are $27. Or at least the lemon custard thyme pie was.
General Store $15.14
Scammaford $9.15 {for you guess it… more hamburgers.}
A quart of strawberries from a roadside stand $7.25
And last but not least… breakfast on this overcast Monday morning.
How about YOU? Is it cheeseburger city at your house too these days? Are you longing for winter soups and casseroles yet? π
Have a great Monday everyone, may your meals be light and low calorie this week. π Ha. I know mine will be.

Are pies so much because it’s tourist season? Here in upstate NY you can buy a beautiful homemade pie for $15 and strawberries were $3.50 A at picked.
Jeanie says
I thought the pie seemed a bit high priced too. Here in KS you can buy a pretty nice pie from the Farmerβs Market for between $12 and $15 depending on filling.
StephanieZ says
Try grinding your own beef for burgers and take it up a notch. Making your own sausages are next….

With temperatures very very hot here we have been under a heat warning for the past week or so. I have not felt like cooking and hamburgers are about the only thing on the menu lately. Both husband and dog love this. Me not so much. Need something different. If hh had his way it would be hamburgers every night. Be glad when and if the temps ever go down to normal so that we can have actual meals other than hamburgers.
Robin in WI says
I could eat cheeseburgers 4 times a week all year. π (As long as the beef and cheese are from humane local farms instead of factory farms.)
Jeanie says
I could too. Cheeseburgers, pizza and soup. My favorite foods.
Jennifer says
Get the HH to mix in some of that Rotel and a little brown sugar into the meat. Moist beyond belief.
For some reason, the older I get, the less I like beef. Part is the taste and part is the price. It’s gotten outrageous!
Lana says
But don’t you love the Blackstone for bacon? No mess in the house is a win for me! I have Hubby just go ahead and cook the entire package and take off all but a meals worth when it is still al little wiggly for nuking later. BLT for lunch without a mess, I’ll take it!
Teri says
Those cheeseburgers look delish! Lucy’s even looks yummy!
Heidi P says
And yet you still have been losing weight!
I’m still waiting for my personal chef to arrive. As for now I can’t please everyone at the same time. It’s either “boring chicken” or “too many carbs” or “I don’t like salads”. Aaaah! I only have my husband and 20 year old left at home and between the two of them its the pits figuring out what to cook. Maybe I should try beans and pie:)

I’m in the same boat – and thinking the same thing! Let the two “boys” figure out what they want and how to make it! Ha! (I wish it were that easy to bring them around to my way of thinking.)
Jamie says
My guys had their first lobster rolls in Plimoth yesterday and some lobster bisque too. Today we’re heading to Kennibunkport even though it looks like we’re still home in Seattle here. Between Elsa and this storm, whatever happened to only two days of rain in July in Boston.
Annette says
Try Lipton onion soup burgers.
Jennifer says
LOS mix makes everything better!!!!
Mel says
I wonder if you could just transition from burgers to quesadillas on the griddle–pretty much the same ingredients. And I feel like it must be possible to make griddle fruit pies.
Mavis Butterfield says
Griddle fruit pies… now you’re talking.
Nancy Sadewater says
Pie filling (homemade or canned) on flour tortillas, roll up burrito style and brown on the griddle.
Mel says
Exactly. I also have a mini pie iron that sort of works like a panini press or griddle, so I bet even regular pie dough or puff pastry might work with some experimentation. Or egg roll wrappers (I use those to make hand pies in the air fryer) or crepes or something.
Laura Z says
That bakery looks like a treasure! That bread makes me swoon. As far as the griddle goes, how about fajitas? Skewers of some kind? Pancake party for the neighborhood?
Great diner sandwiches? Reuben, philly cheesesteaks, etc? Potato pancakes or hashbrowns?
Mavis Butterfield says
I like the fajitas idea. Thanks!
Diane says
My repeating meal last week is what I call a picnic meal: chicken, corn on the cob, and salad (potato or mixed greens or both). Served either on the deck or back yard.
It was the first fresh corn of the season for me. Holy Moly, it was good!
Dessert was a partial made withfresh blueberries, cubes of angel food cake and whipped cream.
It’s pretty common for me to have repeating meals. I’ll cook for meal 1 and then have leftovers for a meal or two or three
Diane says
Sorry about the autocorrect that I didn’t catch!
Dessert was a parfait.
Terri says
Blackstone Griddle cookbook time!
Annette says
What’s the plan for the Heath bits?
Tanya J. says
Does your husband have a hamburger recipe?
Mimi says
No cheeseburgers here, although I crave them. It’s vegetables, fruit, a few whole grains and lean protein these days. No fun food at all. π
I was once a burger eating, pie eating, ice cream eating sort of girl but sadly no more. I got away with it for awhile and then my body rebelled. A cautionary tale.
Kathy Wolfe says
Wish we had your hamburger prices around here. Its about $3.00 more per pound than yours.
Linda Practical Parsimony says
I could eat cheeseburgers 3 or 4 times a week, but I shouldn’t! Pies are almost $30 here in AL.
