This past week was an excellent week in the meal department here at Camp Butterfield. Lot’s of hearty soups, a little take out and I even tried a new brand of oatmeal. Seriously, what more could you want out of life?
Last week the HH tried out a new “man soup” {top picture, and yes, I’ll share the recipe tomorrow} I made my rustic split pea soup, and the HH also made me another batch of the copy cat Panera tomato soup.
All were delicious of course, and Lucy, who prewashes our dishes even requested seconds. π
Kodiak Cakes Oatmeal $3.89
Have you tried Kodiak Cakes oatmeal yet? Holy canolies, I thought the HH was crazy when he brought home a box of the stuff for $3.89 but after tasting it, I am hooked!
The rolled oats are the perfect texture and there’s just a hint of vanilla in the packet and man oh man is it good and the serving size is just right too.
You can never go wrong with scrambled eggs with hoisin sauce.
Or a blue box of Kraft mac and cheese.
General Store $11.79
The HH bought me a cookbook full of recipes from an old diner and well, after looking through the entire cookbook, one of the recipes stood out more than any of the others and it involves saltines… stay tuned.
FIVE GUYS!!! After my check up appointment with the surgeon last week I was craving a strawberry shake and fries so we stopped off at FIVE GUYS on the way home and whoa Nelly did it hit the spot.
Tinder Hearth Bakery $28.52
Attention locals… Tinder Hearth now has a mobile pick up option on Saturdays in Belfast. π Their cinnamon buns are OUT OF THIS WORLD {and well, so is everything else they make}. My friend Heather and I discovered Tinder Hearth last year around this time and well, I think I’ve been back about 4 or 5 times since.
And last nights dinner… pickety bits! A little salami, cheese and dried fruit.
Life is good!
Have a great Monday everyone, I hope your week rocks.

This week looks delicious! One question….I have such a hard time cutting portion size on soups now that hubs and I are empty nesters. We always end up with way too much even after eating endless leftovers. Tips? Some just donβt seem to work to split the recipe down the middle.
Mavis Butterfield says
I agree that it’s hard to cut some soup recipes down. When we make soup, we usually have one serving for dinner, 1 for leftovers the next day and then freeze the rest in lunch size portions. I think it’s nice to be able to pull a serving or two out of the freezer on busy days or when I don’t feel like cooking.
