The last of the Thanksgiving leftovers, turkey soup.
Ritz Cracker chicken and Brussels sprouts.
Blueberry bread pudding. π π π We found a new bakery, and it’s a good one. {I’ll tell you all about it soon}
Pot roast, mashed potatoes and some asparagus The Girl brought home {I didn’t ask questions}.
And Shepard’s pie for the next day.
Pizza pizza!
And then with the leftover guacamole, avocado toast.
Hannaford $108.07
A fairly balanced trip if you ask me. A little something for the husband, the makings for real meals, baking supplies, cheese rations, ice cream and a rotisserie chicken.
And for the record… Sunflowers in December in MAINE, is just wrong.
Market Basket $68.24
Chips, pizza, frozen lasagna {the giant size!} and bran flakes…. I think we know who did the shopping on this trip.
The HH also picked us up two goodies while he was at Market Basket. Chunky Monkey for me, and some sardines for him. When he asked if I wanted some of his sardines, I was like NO, NO I DON’T WANT ANY OF YOUR SMELLY BOY FOOD!!! Who eats sardines anyway? Old men? Gross.
And then I had to listen to him go on and on about how good they were and that I was wrong. The smell was so bad, I had to leave the room. And stay away for a solid 30 minutes.
Monday, it’s here and a high of 50 today too. You know what that means? I’m off to walk a half marathon. Weeeeeeeee.
Have a good one,
~Mavis

Gee, Mavis-Sardines actually can be very nutritious. I didn’t appreciate them before discovering that the bones are edible and a can can provide over 1/3 of the daily RDA of calcium. They also are a great source of protein and Omega fatty acids. These facts are especially important to me when I’m dieting. All that said, skinless and boneless sardines, no, not for me. I want the nutrients, thank you. Jalapenos I’ll save for Mexican food items, too.
Jennifer says
Agreed. Not sure I wanna eat them, but very nutritious. And because the fish are very small, they are likely to have fewer pollutants in their bodies than larger fish (not making it upβI learned it in college in a lecture on fisheries).
Holley says
Is this a real half marathon or is it the pastry eating kind??? Either way, GOOD LUCK!!!!
Carolina Cooper says
The GoodnPlenty in the foreground was a dead give away that it was the HH who went to Market Basket!

My husband eats that brand of kippers most every weekend morning. I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 15 years, but even when I ate meat, I did not eat canned fish like that. The smell makes me sick, so I stay out of the room when he’s eating and he tells me when he’s done. He’s very thoughtful, he always washes out the tin and puts it in the recycling can in the garage before I come back into the kitchen. I know they are nutritious but blech! Only the cat wants to be in the room with him when he’s eating kippers or sardines or smoked white fish or herring… π

Womanβs please! my thermometer is set at 69 right now.

I would go with Womenβs socks. Whenever my feet are cold, my whole body is cold. (Hands too)
Current temperature is set at 67! I actually thought of you today wearing your coat in the house and laughed to myself. After a $700 bill last year we are cutting way back!!!
Karen Phanco says
I love wearing warm socks on a rainy, chilly day and working on art.
MaryAnn Smith says
Women’s socks, please and my home is set at 69 degrees.

Sardines are most definitely an acquired taste. I love them. My husband and adult boys steer clear and won’t even try them. I grew up eating sardines on Saltines with my dad. I loved to roll back the metal top with the little “key.” A few weeks ago, I brought them for lunch at work…not allowed to do that again
Mavis Butterfield says
Not allowed to do that again. FUNNY!!!
Dana says
Since I would be wearing them, women’s please. Thermostat’s at 68 in the evening, I turn it to 65 though the day when I’m gone to work. Once a friend gave me one of those betta fighting tropical fish in a little glass container. The next day when I got home from work it was dead. I think the poor thing got too cold!

I’ve been feeling immensely grateful for our freezer meals this week. I let one of our freezer crock-pot meals (lo mein) simmer on Sunday while making 17 pans of cinnamon rolls for work and neighbors, and we had freezer oven fried chicken tonight after a very long day.
Mary Beth says
Those jalapeno smoked sardines look delicious! I totally eat canned sardines but my true love is anchovies. Salty, funky, and fishy. It helps that they’re super nutritious, environmentally friendly, and cheap. I do realize that most people disagree with me, so I mostly eat them when I’m home alone.
