Hello Monday!
I am happy to report we finished installing the fence {gates included!} yesterday and Lucy was able to run around like a free bird for the first time in 6 weeks. Not a single dog walked by when she was outside {although she looked for them through the pickets} but she was able to dig and frolic through the leaves for a good bit of time.
I checked the weather forecast this morning and I’m happy to report winter is on it’s way! I couldn’t be more excited. Garden chores {moving dirt and raking leaves} should be completed in the next few days and then it’s time to settle in, drink copious amounts of tea, watch movies {the Crown comes out November 17th!} make 10 million roman shades, hook rugs like mad and break out the puffy coats for those walks to the bakery which I am so looking forward to this winter.
Have I told you how much I love the fact that there are 4 true seasons here? {Well 5 if you count mud season}. 🙂
Dinner last week.
The haddock was good but the HH overcooked the Brussels sprouts and peppers and so our meal tasted a bit like hospital food. Oh well, they can’t all be winners.
Weenies and chips! The perfect 3 minute meal after putting up 50 feet of fencing.
Loaf of the Week: Cheddar and Ale $8.00
Mid week the HH made a 5 quart pot of homemade chicken soup that lasted a few days. It was absolutely perfect in every way.
Next up was Mississippi Pot Roast. I think I’ll make a beef pot pie tonight with the leftovers.
The Holy Donut $14.69
Potato doughnuts, have you tried them? The doughnuts might be a litter heavier than a traditional doughnut, but they’re so incredibly moist and have such a better flavor. One of these days I am going to make it to the MCC Relief Sale and try one of JJ’s.
Market Basket $112.90
Can you tell the HH was hungry when he went shopping? At least he got everything on my list this time {plus, a few extras!}. You know you’re getting older when rice pudding and bran flakes some home with you practically every time you shop. Ha ha ha.
And last but not least, we had dinner at the neighbors house last night {there were 10 of us at the table}. On the menu: Fried oysters, lobster bisque, grilled Caesar salad with quail eggs and for the main course, salmon with an amazing cream sauce. Seafood! I ate seafood! Not once, not twice, but three times. 🙂 And it was all fantastic.
We had an absolute blast, and when it was time to go I was absolutely shocked to find out we had been there for 4 hours. Time flew on by and everyone was so kind and welcoming, and now we have a list about a mile long of new places to check out thanks to our dinner fellow guests.
It was a great week. We finished the fence, ate some delicious food and made some new friends. What more could I ask for. I love it here!

I’m dying to know which outfit you wore to the dinner with the new neighbors? It’s great that you have wonderful new neighbors here too.

Saw an abstract Owl the first time looked at the bread loaf! My brain has been playing games with me lately. Anyone else see the owl?

Who doesn’t love Market Basket? When I was back on Massachusetts last month, I got eggs for 69 cents a dozen! Doing the happy dance! Meanwhile, my SIL goes to the farm stand and pays $4.29 for a dozen farm fresh eggs! My frugal ways will not allow me to do such things!

When I was a child in the 1950s, there was a small donut chain called Spudnuts. The donuts were potato donuts. My dad used to take my brother and me there. I believe there is still a few Spudnut places left.
