I cleaned out the pantry this afternoon and found 3 jars of canned peas circa 2009 on the back shelf. I was afraid to eat them and decided the only logical thing to do was to throw them off the back deck.
Now you tell me… Would a cat eat a jar of 2 year old canned peas? I don’t think so.
This is just another fine example of why chickens make the best pets in the entire world!

I’m sure the chickens enjoyed the treat. Just for future reference if they were pressure canned according to the current recommendations, they would have been fine for you to eat as well.

I would’ve eaten them. I almost never pay attention to the dates on the lid—I just listen to see if the lid has a good seal when I pop it off.
