I spent the better part of the morning harvesting radishes.
Then, after replanting the previously occupied garden bed with cabbage starts, I realized there was no way on earth we were going to be able to eat all the radishes I had just harvested.
I filled a gallon sized bag full of radishes in the refrigerator, and placed the rest at the end of my driveway.
I’m giving away free food. How Ironic. Ah Ha Ha Ha.

Wow, all the shades of purple are gorgeous! And the greens looks so healthy, too. Did you know the greens are edible? I just learned that last year.

I do the same thing with my extras from the garden. I’ve been doing it for a few years. I put the produce on an upside-down larger box with a FREE sign and stick plastic grocery bags through a hole I cut near the top.
It’s so nice to be able to share! 🙂 People really appreciate it.

If your neighbors get tired of radishes here are some things to try. You can use the greens in smoothies or saute them. I freeze the greens and add them to my smoothie. The radishes also are wonderful roasted in the oven, a whole different flavor! You can also try dehydrating them as chips, and try making relish too.

The Simply in Season cookbook has an amazing radish dill salad. I can’t wait for my first harvest of radishes. I’ll be making myself a big bowl of that salad. Mmm…
