The Girl has gotten back into knitting again and so for a fun gift, I made her a yarn bouquet as a little thank you for taking care of the house and Miss Lucy while we were away in the big city for my surgery.
That kid, she sure does like to make stuff. And here in New England, when the weather is cold and yucky outside during the winter months, staying in and working on craft projects is pretty much the best thing ever to keep from getting cabin fever.
Not that I would know about cabin fever… I’m practically a hermit. Bahahaha. But you know, for most people, keeping busy during the winter months is high on the list. 😉
Supplies
- 12 Skeins of Yarn
- 12 {1/4″} Wooden Dowels
- Green Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brush
- Cello Wrap
- Ribbon
- Scissors
Directions
Paint the the dowels green and let them completely dry. Poke a dowel through the end of the skein of yarn just far enough so that it doesn’t poke out the other end. Repeat 11 more times. Gather up all your yarn “flowers” and set them on a 2′ x 4′ piece of cello wrap.
Bunch the cello wrap around the flowers and tie a bow around the bottom of the cello wrap, making sure to cinch it tight.
Pretty easy don’t you think? 🙂
Looking for more crafts projects to do this winter? I’ve got load of them HERE in my Arts and Crafts Archives.

If your crafter is also a gardener you could purchase green gardening stakes to use in place of the dowels. May be a bit more $$, but they could be put to use in flower beds/boxes/planters during the gardening season.

Love this, I’v become a quite the hermit t also since last March.
Get out just when I have to, I’m the sole caretaker for my better half. Keeping him and us safe from the virus is the most important thing. Strangely I find I like being away from crowds and people. I have done a lot of needle work over the past months, so I personal would love this great gift. Looks like the girl is as
talented as her mom. Have a happy Thursday!

This is such a thoughtful gift. As a knitter I especially like that you included multiple skeins of each color to give the girl some flexibility in what she wants to make.

Aww, that’s so cute and fun!! Love hearing bits about your kids. I’ve been lurking since the great garden-gnome-gathering and the flamingos-in-the-hoa-stunt haha!! Whenever I read your weekly groceries posts, I always wonder where the Doritos are for Monkey Boy 🙂 Hope your kiddos are happy and well since flying the nest! I’ve learned so much from your blog—thanks for sharing.

What about using giant knitting needles for the stems? Just a thought….

I love the idea. There are so many themes this could incorporate.
I just saw something on a FB group. A lady went to the thrift store and bought several hand made crocheted blankets. She planned to unravel them and reuse the yarn for her projects. Got me thinking.
