It was another great week eating local and I could totally get used to eating this way. Now, if I could just get the boys to eat soup, salad and stir fry all the time… life would be easy. 😉
I didn’t buy any milk last week {because I’m still not drinking hot tea} nor did I buy bread {I still have a bunch in the freezer that I sliced and put away last week}.
This week my main goal is to just use up the remaining produce in the fridge and to harvest what I can from the garden {mostly lettuce and radishes} before heading home this weekend.
I’m looking forward to seeing what my local farmer’s market has to offer {produce wise} when I get back. In the past the produce there has been about 50/50. Some locally grown {and by local I mean within a 30 miles radius} and the rest trucked in from eastern washington. Since I can get produce from eastern washington at the local produce stand in town, I usually just buy it there. So we’ll see.
Farmer’s Market $25.25
Lettuce, spinach, broccoli $3.oo each
Asparagus $3.50
Cucumbers, zucchini $0.75 each

Hi Goddess Butterfield – I can’t tell how happy to see you back on the path of true frugal quest. I almost stopped following this blog, because I truly thought that you had been corrupted by your affiliations and Ad sponsorships. As a Web Master and Blogger I understand the need for sponsorship to maintain a Web presence.
But the truth, be told I had a hard time swallowing the fact that you could not maintain the basic premises of $100 a month as original site promised.
I loved love your site from the moment I saw it. And as a man, I never tried cooking recipes before. My first try was your jalapeño jelly recipe. I had just moved from California to Pittsburgh, and brought a ton of pepper seeds from the west cost.
I grew the biggest jalapeño peppers anyone had seen one in Pittsburgh and made the jelly two weeks before Christmas. Being the new guy in the neighborhood I gave a pint of jelly to everyone on my block.
Everyone loved it, and now I’m asked when the next batch will arrive. Keep in mind that before this I had never canned anything in my life! Now I’m hooked on canning.
Keep up the good work.
Truly yours.
