Last week I didn’t buy any groceries but instead tried to use all the food I had purchased from the farmer’s market I had in the fridge before heading home. I cobbled together simple meals with what I had on hand and ended up wrapping 3 slices of wheat bread, 4 slices of pumpkin bread and 1 ball of goat cheese and popped them into the freezer for next time.
My MIL sent the HH a $50 ecard to Panera for his birthday {HILARIOUS!} and he was so sweet to forward it on to me for the road trip home. She’s a smart lady, what can I say.
So far this year I have spent $673.78 on groceries. This week will be a little high because I need to restock the fridge as well as stop by Spooner Farms to pick up a year’s supply of strawberries and raspberries, but after that, I’ll work on getting back on track for the year.
It feels good to be back… Now, if I can just get those boys to eat more salads. 😉

So how many lbs/quarts/pints is a years worth of strawberries and raspberries? I always have a hard time estimating the amount. We use them for quick jellies, pies and smoothies and as ice cubes in drinks.

I don’t need to make raspberry or strawberry jam this year {plenty leftover from last year} so I bought 2 flats of strawberries and 1 flat of raspberries.

Do you wash your raspberries before freezing?

I grew up not too far from where Cracker Barrel was founded and where the headquarters are now. I LOVE Cracker Barrel. Good home cooked style food and I enjoy looking through all the goodies in the shop. You haven’t lived until you’ve had breakfast at Cracker Barrel though. You will not believe the breakfast plates…multiple plates. The hash brown casserole and fried apples are great. I think it is the Uncle Persil’s breakfast that I get. Not sure of the name of it. It has country ham, bacon and sausage (one piece of each), hash brown casserole, fried apples, eggs, biscuits, maybe even grits. Unbelievable. You won’t be hungry again all day.

My husband and I just had meatloaf dinners at Cracker Barrel on Saturday while we were out of town. Makes great lunches the next day too!

Cracker Barrel is Army Pilot’s favorite restaurant. They are everywhere in the South. The closest one to us now is in Montana. Good News for him…one is opening up in CDL, Idaho very soon. I guess we’ll be making a road trip.

I saw one in Boise, is that closer?

Last year while traveling we stopped at a Cracker Barrel and had one of the worst meals on that trip. My eggs were rubbery and grits were cold. The husband had corned beef hash and it was over cooked. So we won’t go there on a trip again!

Thank you – I agree! I always thought the best thing about Cracker Barrel was the gift store.

If I knew you were stopping in Billings, I would have had you tell our kiddos hello! We are native northern Montanas, relocated for 10 1/2 hrs to Spokane but have one son & fam in Billings, so we make the long 9 hour drive about 4 times a year…long, but worth it to see our lovely family!

The area is beautiful!!
