Last week was sort of a weird week. The Girl and I returned home late Monday night from a 4 day road trip and then on Wednesday the HH had to leave for a 4 day business trip. It seemed like everyone was either coming or going, working, unpacking, packing, hanging out with friends or working on house projects. To say last week was a busy one, would be an understatement.
Here are the groceries we picked up last week:
Fred Meyer $14.42
Milk was on sale again for $0.99 a half gallon, butter $2.50 a pound, nectarines and peaches $.88 a pound and junky hot dog buns were $1.59. We also picked up a free Power Bar and a bag of gummies thanks to the Fred Meyer’s Friday freebie deals you can load to your card each week.

Question. Where do you buy your dog food? The HH and I stopped by Petco a few weeks ago to check the price on a 30 pound bag of Lucy’s favorite dog food. It was $52.99. I thought that was high so after we got home I checked on Amazon and found the exact same bag of dog food for $36.99 shipped. A $16 savings! That’s crazy.
Fresh Eggs from Mrs. HB – Free
I stopped by Mrs. HB’s place and picked up a dozen eggs. The babies Lucy and I raised are just now starting to lay {the eggs are so tiny!} so hopefully I’ll be able to pick up a dozen and a half next time. Man. I can’t wait to bust out of here so we can have chickens again. It’s something I think about every single day. Obsess is probably a better word.
Here are the meals I ate last week {minus snacks}:

I buy dog food at Chewy.com. I love having it delivered right to my door. Their customer service is also top-notch. I can’t say enough good things about this company. Their prices also beat every store/online company that I’ve checked.

Chewy.com for dog food. We have two 25 to 30 lbs bags delivered monthly. One of our dogs gets very yeasty with Costco’s food so we made the switch. Love their service and prices for premium foods.

I use Chewy.com for my pet food too. Prices are less that I can get elsewhere and it’s deliveried for free.

I ONLY use LA dog food. It’s a holistic pet food company and even though it’s a little more expensive per bag, the per serving is cheaper than something like Blue Buffalo because the calories are higher. I have some very picky pets so we only get our food from this company.

Amazon, which is cheaper than the pet store. Every so often, we will win a gift certificate to the feed store at a local fundraiser, and I will buy that same food you have in you picture there (about $35 at our feed store). The fancy pants high omega 3 salmon stuff that helps with our super sheddy dog’s coat is way cheaper at Amazon, but I always feel a little frisson of guilt when I think of having it shipped here via post, seems so wasteful.

We have two Pitties and they have eaten meat and veggies every day of their lives. WAY less expensive than pet food. We wait for the ‘Green meat’, (no antibiotics, pasture raised, etc), sales at the grocery and stock up. We slow cook chicken, but gizzards, tripe, livers, etc., they eat raw. They love their green beans, broccoli, carrots, okra, kohlrabi, and greens, courtesy of our organic CSA. So far they have been ridiculously healthy. Our previous Pittie was also raised eating this way and she lived to be 18. May not be solely because of the food, but we think it had A LOT to do with her longevity.

A lot of times the Groupon vendor will still honor the price you paid, as a some credit, but not the deal. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
