While the HH was away visiting The Girl last week I put on my crafty pants and went crazy. I honestly don’t know what came over me.
For starters, I painted the laundry room. The walls needed a second coat of paint. I did those AND painted all the trim in the laundry room as well. I also hung up the clothespin wreath I made a few weeks ago as well as a corkboard I snatched out of The Girls closet. Finally, the laundry room is finished. {I’ll post a picture of it later this week}.
And YES. That is an Alaska Airlines hot beverage cup from my last flight. Instead of letting the flight attendant recycle my cups, I stuff them in my carry on bag to reuse later at home. It’s true. I am that much of a weirdo.
I also pulled Monkey Boy’s two remaining bathroom cabinet doors out of the closet and started staining them. Each side needs about 7 coats of stain so it’s kind of a big ordeal.
I have one for coat to go before I can flip the doors and start on the other side. Hopefully I’ll have them finished and installed by the end of the week.
I also had the idea to haul my dining room table into the living room and move the grey couch to a different spot. But I’ll have to wait for The Girl to come home for winter break so she can help me move everything around to see if it would look good or not. If I ask the boys they’ll just moan and say the furniture looks fine where it is {so they don’t have to move anything of course}.
I whipped up 10 pin keeps. Now all I need to do is stuff them and get them listed on Etsy.
I dyed wool.
And drooled over the latest Sundance catalog for a good 10 minutes before tossing it into the recycle bin. I LOVE the clothing in there. In my imaginary life I’d only wear Sundance and REI clothing and not bat an eye at paying $300 a for a pair of well made shoes. I’d also speak French and have a Chalet in the Swiss Alps with a live in masseuse and have a really cute guy on standby who’s only job was to grind cocoa beans each afternoon and bring me hand crafted hot cocoa and Lu Cinnamon Sugar Biscuits.
I would call him Pierre. And he would have a brother {for you}.
I love Amazon. Less than 18 hours after ordering my new kicks online they arrived at my doorstep.
Oh, and I had the heat turned down to 60 degrees the ENTIRE TIME the HH was out of town. What do you want to bet I saved $10?
Keep calm and stay delusional. That’s my advice for today.

You did all that AND wrote a funny post that made me laugh….you inspire me to get up and outta my PJs 🙂
Mavis says
Glad I could help drag you out of bed. Ha!

Oh my gosh, you make me laugh Mavis! I like to say that when I win the lottery, I will put in my dream pool and have a Swedish cabana guy named Sven! I never purchase lottery tickets so Sven is safe from cleaning my imaginary pool in just a fig leaf for now 🙂

I love the fact that you turned the heat down, us poor people here in North FL are still running our air conditioners…. wide open.

That’s crazy talk! We could sure use a little of your warmth in the Pacific Northwest. It’s chilly out here!

Awesome week! Did you use a gel stain over existing cabinet doors? No sanding?

Glad to know my DH is not the only male that needs to have the heater on. The amount of money women can save…

I’ve always told my husband that my definition of “well-off” had more to do with the amenities than a dollar amount – give me a weekly housecleaner and a weekly massage and I’d consider myself very rich!
My husband works away most of the time. When he’s gone, I keep the temp at 60, leave off the floor heater in the bathroom and the hot water recirculator. The bill when he’s here for more than a week or two is at least 10-15% higher!
Mavis says
Glad to know I’m not the only one! I’d be curious to see my savings long-term!

By the way, congratulations on accomplishing so much!
Laura Z says
All this accomplished after you made dinner for 20-40 people?! Great job!
Mavis says
I’d do all this a million times over instead of feeding the masses on short notice! Ha. Maybe all that cooking actually gave me some great energy that carried over this week!

Tomorrow is my day off and I’m going to get a few things done, but I would like to sleep in later than 5 am, maybe to 6. Otherwise the day is off and I feel like I’m playing catch up all day. Retirement sounds lovely right now!!

Day off, wide awake at 5:03am. Turkey soup on stove, kitchen counter cleaned. Not nearly as exciting as your day, Mavis!
