This morning I cleaned my kitchen. Like, I mean, totally cleaned my kitchen. Clearly I will not be doing any cooking today because WHY WOULD I WANT TO MESS IT UP? 😉
P.S. It’s totally fine if you are jealous of my paper window shades.
This morning I also decided to clean the windows behind the sink. All our windows have screens on them and it never once occurred to me to remove the screens and not put them back on the windows until now.
Look at the view! The window on the left still has it’s screen on. The window on the right does not. Seriously. What have I been missing all these years? Unless it’s summer and I have to have the windows open {because I’m too cheap to turn on the A/C} why would I want to keep the screens on?
Apparently screens block about 30% of the sunlight {according to Dr. Google}. Who knew? Do you remove your screens during the winter months? Have I been living under a rock? Is this a thing?
Did you get a $10 off a $10 purchase coupon from Kohl’s in the mail yesterday? I did. And let me tell you Bob I am going to go down there later and see what I can find for $10.01 so I can use my coupon. I had planned to get some free soup mix or hot cocoa mix with it but the fine print on the back states “no consumables” so now I’m not sure what the heck to get because I normally don’t shop at Kohl’s.
Update from reader Ashley… who really has a thing for Kohl’s
I’m a Kohl’s cardholder and they have some CRAZY good deals today! If you’re a cardholder you can get free shipping (SHIPMVC), $10 of $25 (VETERANS10) and 30% off (TURKEY30). So basically a $25 order will ship for $11. I’m assuming you’re not a cardholder, but if you don’t feel like braving the store, you can still shop online today and use the $10/$25 code and PUMPKIN for 15% (plus your $10 coupon) and use in store pick up so you don’t have to pay shipping.
I like Kohls……
My Home Sweet Home Pillow insert came in the mail yesterday too.
I removed the casing from an old bed pillow and stuffed that sucker with batting.
Don’t you think it goes great with my craigslist sofa? I do! And I’m thoroughly convinced I’m going to get this place furnished and looking like a model home for pennies on the dollar before we blow this popsicle stand.
Keep Calm and Save On.
Happy Wednesday.

So I know the rule of thumb for taxes when you flip a home is 2 years. Do you have a count-down to when you can move? What’s your liberation date? (I could figure it out by back0tracking in the blog, but I am too lazy – plus I’m pretty sure you have a countdown calendar going!)

I took off the screens one year to clean as well. I was pregnant so asked the HH to put them back up for me. Well he is a major procrastinator so they were off all Fall and winter. It was the only time I have been thankful for his lack of motivation. I too loved having the screens off and now do that every year. Besides it is making the screens last longer by not having snow and ice that falls off of our roof hit them.

I agree for you to get a set of kitchen towels or pot holders at Kohl’s. You could always buy a decorator pillow so you have a form for next time to repurpose or a picture frame or other kitchen linens.

Or you could get a Kitchen gadget…measuring cup, wooden spoon, back up cookie scoop etc. They are usually on sale and then your $10 off!

I received a $20 gift card in mail from Kohls as a thank you for having a Kohls card. Used that and 30percent off received on a recent flyer and a $10 off purchase of $25 or more and 3 large sugar cookie jar candles on sale for 4.99 each, down from $11.99 each and 12 Yankee votive for the holidays. The jars go in the bathrooms and the motives look so pretty along the mantle while giving off their lovely scent.

Every winter now, we take the kitchen screens off. In northern Illinois, we need all the light we can get during the dreary winter!

I take mine off in the winter months and it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. I usually leave the ones off the Windows I no longer open (bedrooms due to allergies) and focus on the few I open.

I went to Kohls the other day with a couple of coupons….a $10 off $25 purchase, plus a $10 of $10 coupon that could be combined. I bought SS earrings for my niece , a scarf for her plus cologne for my son and paid $13 OOP. (the cologne was displayed with a 60% off sign above it, but none of the items on that display were on sale – so they had to give me the discounted price. yay!) Went yesterday with my hubby, he had a 20% off coupon, $10 off $25, $10 Birthday and a $5off anything card. We bought a nice sweater for our son for Christmas, a nice mockneck for hubby, a tee shirt on clearance for hubby AND jeans for hubby….paid $23 OOP. if you combine coupons and discount codes, you can get great deals at Kohls
