Yesterday the puggle princess and I spent the entire day in the kitchen making delicious food. Well, I cooked and she licked the bowls. 😉 I made a ham, applesauce, mashed potatoes, a jello salad, and biscuits from scratch.
It was awesome.
For the first time in 7 weeks we ate a home cooked meal.
I don’t think it gets any better than that.

Looks like you decided on a different tile for the back splash. I love it! Way better than the dark one and a better choice than the vertical tile IMO.
Mavis Butterfield says
No tile yet… that’s what tile ripped off the wall looks like. 🙂 The new stuff should arrive later this week.

Beautiful!! Happy for you!

Your kitchen looks beautiful. Great job!

I spy with my little round eye…a new backsplash? Or, did you paint over the old one? Regardless, the lighter is SO much better in your space. LOVE it!!
Jenn says
I love the drawer under your oven. I wish I had one, but then again, I have double ovens so I doubt there was any space left for one. The kitchen looks fabulous. It is such a good feeling when you can finally get in your new kitchen and cook!
Mavis Butterfield says
It’s the perfect spot to store cookie sheets.
Teckla says
So glad you went with your instincts and are going lighter with the back splash! Lighter is definitely better and you will always be glad you did!

Aren’t you going to miss washing dishes and cooking in the bathroom??! Your kitchen is beautiful, I happy for you!
Mavis Butterfield says
Oh yes, terribly. 😉

Yay Mavis! Progress is such a nice feeling! <3

Wow! From the pic, the ripped out backsplash looks WAAAYY better than the dark tile! I don’t blame you, it just didn’t look right. Can’t wait to see the new!!
Elza Verona says
Mavis,
The kitchen looks wonderful! I am so glad you decided against the dark backsplash tile, and I can’t wait to see what you chose.
Also, it looks like Lucy has made her self right at home!
Wendy Steele says
OMgosh!!! I was completely fooled. I thought the new backsplash was IN…and I thought it was some kind of vanilla colored textured subway tile!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious. You were right. The kitchen looks 100% better with a creamy colored “whatever” up there.
Can’t wait to see the new tile, and even without—your kitchen is FAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Won’t the ovens next to the kitchen transfer heat and cause the refrigerator to wear out more quickly?
