Yesterday was another extremely productive day. Call me crazy, but getting stuff done is exciting.
Especially when you can get up at 4 am if you feel like it and then take a nap a few hours later because HELLO… 4 am is JUST TOO EARLY to be getting up! 😉
I cleaned out the freezers and found some old guacamole at the bottom of one of them.
My goal is to only eat freezer meals while the HH is away. I planned well and have an ample supply of meals plus frozen cake slices and brownies in the freezer so I won’t go into sugar withdrawals.
There were a bunch of green beans {from last fall} containers of tomato soup and cookie dough in the freezer. Way more than I thought was in there so I’ll have to work on using those things up here pretty soon.
Plus, there were a bunch of blueberries. I guess I never made all those pies I had wanted to last summer. Whoops. Maybe I’ll make the HH a welcome home pie when he gets back… or some muffins.
I made a batch of whales.
And had 20 yards of garden soil delivered. 🙂 {The HH is going to freak out about that.}
I also picked a bouquet of daffodils for the kitchen. Daffodils in May! Can you believe it? When we lived in Washington daffodils were in bloom in March. But here in New England we don’t see them until late April/Early May.
I also steamed, serged and pinned all my latest rugs. The ones I didn’t pin I should have turned into pillows by the end of the week.
It was a busy and satisfying day, that’s for sure. 🙂
Meanwhile, in Barcelona, Spain…
I didn’t get much of a report… Only that they are having fun walking around the city, the waterfront, the markets and eating… They’re doing lots of eating.
I think a bunch of museums are on their list today. As for me? I think I’ll repot all the tomato plants and maybe eat some more cake. We’ll see.
Have a good one,
~ Mavis

Progress, progress!
I assume all the soil will go on the big garden? Or, do you have some spots on your property you need to fill in? I suppose you could hire a crew to come in and spread it everywhere you want it…..and hope HH doesn’t notice bc of jet lag.

I went to Barcelona in 2019 and loved it. If you speak with your husband and daughter, I recommend a tapas walking tour in the old city. It was so much fun, and the food was amazing.

It is a beautiful city, but so is Maine! Hope you have a great day!

I think you can really use a Foodsaver vacuum sealer for your frozen items. They work really well!

Many years ago, when my son was about 4 years old, my husband wanted us to take a vacation to see his parents in Texas. I couldn’t get the time off from work so he took our son and they were gone for a week. I then realized what a real vacation was. Missed them, but didn’t have to cook, clean, pick up toys, or do a bunch of laundry for a whole week. Ate out at my favorite restaurant…..with a good book for company. Enjoy your time, then you’ll enjoy your family all the more when they get back.

I am always amazed at how productive you are, and how many of your hobbies and tasks allow your family to save or make money. Glad you’re enjoying some alone time. Have a great week!

This year our daffodils in the PNW (Oregon) weren’t blooming in March–such a late spring here! They are just finishing their bloom time now.

If they’re not aware of it, warn your darling daughter and HH not to bring any prepared meats home. We tried this from Mexico for our daughter’s partner who is Portuguese (and a chef), and got busted by — I am not making this up — a “meat-sniffing” dog. Apparently the U.S. is terribly worried about some kind of intestinal worm that lives in other countries’ meat. Raw meat, I can understand — but smoked and processed?!?
Anyhow, we lost not only Dre’s snacks, but a whole batch of goodies we were bringing home for New Year’s tapas. Frustrating. Why do I have a feeling that a bunch of U.S. Customs agents had a wonderful supper that night?

You said on another post that Spain was a research trip. Is your daughter thinking of moving there for a job? Or is this just a fun trip?

I wanted to ask this yesterday! 🙂

Just cross out the projects rather than remove them from you mirror. You could than show us all your work. Next I would check to see who has stairs to let you go into the water easier. They maybe able to delivery them so they are just sitting there ready to be installed. Great job enjoy your free time endeavors!!!!

With regard to the garden soil and the HH, it’s always better to ask forgiveness than permission! Haha
