I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow. Once I stop pinching myself. 😉

How exciting! I look forward to hearing all about it. And, a whole new set of adventures and learning. I’m ready- let’s go!
Karen says
OMG, my head is spinning with this news, but Good Luck and hope you find your dream home!!
Lisa says
I am having a laugh all the way down here in Tassie…
Wow!! Did you let the grass grow at all???
Looking forward to the story!
You’ll be total experts at picking up, packing up and moving on!!!
Fabulous!!
Robin says
So much for relaxing for the winter! LOL
Athena says
Well that explains the very sparse posts you’ve had the last few days! Can’t wait t hear about the new adventure. Was the house even on the market?!?!? We’re a military family and you’ve more than we have in the last few years!
Mary G says
Oh, my goodness! You have a much bigger need for adventure than I do. Good luck with everything! If you ever have a chance to share some tips for preparing for a move, I’d greatly appreciate it. Lucy looks like she is so ready for the next adventure!
Michelle says
You are so funny and crazy! I would love that… I am a gypsy at heart and hate being in the same place too long which makes me think I shouldn’t keep buying houses and just rent one haha !
Carrie says
I love this. Its like slow travel, you are taking your time and exploring and enjoying it all. We live in your old neck of the woods in Washington. It has grown SO much here, we often talk about moving on some day. The big question, is where do you go? How do you pick your forever new place? I think this is the answer. Not to feel like somewhere or some house has to be the one and final place. It doesn’t hurt to make a little money on each relestate transaction either
Frances says
Ditto. The land is worth much mroe than the house. Lots of offers from developers that are insultingly low. Plus we’d need to find a new place to live that was affordable!
MEM says
Mavis, you sold at exactly the right time! The parents of a friend of mine own a second home in that area (that shall remain nameless) and real estate is red-hot there now. Homeowners are getting letters stuffed in their mailboxes from people in NY/NJ/CT looking to escape COVID-19 and willing to pay top dollar for a second home there. Since they are WFH it doesn’t matter where they live, apparently. I look forward to seeing where you land next.
Katie says
Oh I’m excited to see where you end up next!
Christie says
I absolutely love your sense of adventure and cannot wait to hear the story!
Peg says
I. Knew. It!
Lesley says
I was hoping for this! No one makes it look more fun. That is why I keep reading this blog all year long for so many years.
Thank you, Mavis, for being so authentically YOU and sharing with the rest of us.
Lynda says
I’ll bet you’re moving to an island. I can hardly wait for tomorrow!
Nan says
Doesn’t surprise me at all- good luck!
Vicki says
I can’t wait to hear about it. I was wrong I thought you can’t be moving again so soon…lol. It is a good time to sell though! I hope you found an island home.
Brianna says
Most of us readers must be so intuitive. I figured last weekend when there was not a lot of blog activity and then the presented meals and goals that something big was going on. It is tempting with the market to sell right now for many of us and the thought bounces around in my head a lot. I have shooed realtors off my porch wanting me to list or subdivide. Nothing in my neighborhood has been on the market more then 8 days since February. It is crazy, I cannot wait for the details and to see if you are embarking on your island adventure now or inching closer.
MEM says
Same here in the Greater Boston area. My house burned to the ground in 2015 and was rebuilt by the end of 2016. Even while it was under construction I kept getting offers from realtors and just random people wanting to buy it “for the right price”. At least twice a week I STILL get letters from “investors” wanting to buy my house – for the right price, i.e. below market value. I asked them nicely to take me off of their lists but they ignore it.
Mel says
*closes eyes and crosses fingers* Please be an island.
Andrea says
I knew it! When there was no progress on painting the kitchen cabinets, nor refinishing the bedroom floor, I just knew because that’s not your style. Can’t wait for the next adventure!!
Alice says
Also she gave up on the sunroom blinds.
But it was the kitchen cabinets that I first knew something was up.
MONICA BROWN says
Yes!!!! Same here! I just knew, when the kitchen cabinets were out – she was moving. Then the food post, I knew I was right! Good for you Mavis! I hope so much happiness for you on your next adventure 🙂
Jennifer says
You should change the title to “Getting it ready for the next resident”!! I swear, when I saw the Post-Its, that was the first thing that popped into my head. Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Laura says
what a tease! Can’t wait to hear all about it. But how do you organize all the address changes/utilities/license change/mail, etc for all these moves! It took me quite a few months to do all this. We moved a year and half ago and I still haven’t changed my drivers license. (but mostly cause of covid)
Sue says
Oh my, I’m hoping it’s going to be the forever home, living on Island time.
Nothing better than beach combing and the surf music. The best is the sound of silence and Mother Nature. MY dream.
EC says
Wow, Good Luck
debbie in alaska says
I Love that there is a post-it with “tell people we moved” …. so fun!
I’m on the “oh please let it be an island” train!
Christina@Bargainblog says
Wait…WHAT!?
How exciting!! Can’t wait to hear more!!!
Laura says
Could it be the island home she rented is now her new home? I hope so, it was beautiful and she liked everything about it.
Kim says
Wow!!! Can’t wait to hear what the next chapter is………………..shock, shock, shock…………..
Rosaleen says
AS Christina said, “Wait/What?”
Something messed up in my email and I have to hunt for the re-posts of your daily messages. We’l talk about this off the blog at some point.
Camie says
I knew it was coming! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Gwenn says
Did you finally find that island to move to and talked the HH into it?
Sarah S says
Congratulations!! Can’t wait to hear all about the new adventure
Cheryl says
Whoa! Good for you! I swear you must have been a gypsy in another life…lol.
I look around my house and could not fathom having your energy to pack up and move after living here for 34 years.
My desire to stay in place may have been that we had moved at least 12 times by my 12th birthday.
I cannot wait to see where you “land” next!
Anne says
I love reading your blog. I am a fellow rug hooker. But I think you’re totally crazy! In a good way of course.
tia in boise says
Shut the front door! (I am NOT one of your intuitive readers!) I saw the other day that many people already had an inkling. I’m thinking: no way–that is way too much work in so short a period of time—whew! Can’t wait to hear what the story is!
Dianne says
HHHHMMMM – you were approached by someone wanting to buy your house and you jumped? This seems to be happening more frequently. The housing market is still so hot for sellers, what a great way to buy a house for the buyer instead of fighting with the other people outbidding you!
Sarah says
I’ve moved twice in my 39 years and that’s been too many. How do you do this?
Annette says
Such a nice property, I can see why it would attract potential buyers.
Kyrie says
hope it’s the island house!! congratulations!! 😀
Jeanine says
All those groceries that you bought….good thing you have a big ice chest. You must like to work, work, work. Your HH is a trooper, if in fact, you are moving again. Also, hope you are making a killing on the sale, if it is true that you are moving. Good luck, and as everyone has stated before me…we are all enjoying the ride along with you.
Vicki in Birmingham says
I feel island living is in your near future! Congratulations!
Randi says
Maybe you and HH are secretly house flippers and someday will have a hit show on tv post-pandemic. I can see it now… hunting for the next diamond in the rough, detailed house projects with a devoted and handyman hubby, and then happy buyers at the end of the episode.
Seriously tho, i feel for all the nice neighbors you’ve left behind, they must me mouning the loss of Mavis as their neighbor.
Carol@Lake Tapps says
What??? Cant wait to hear the all details!
Congrats!!
Amy says
I still can’t believe you left the last house – so perfect.
Teri says
WOW Mavis & HH!!! Can’t wait to find out what’s next!!
All the best!
