I feel like such a slacker today…
Lucy the Puggle Princess and I have been playing in the yard all day harvesting vegetables and planting new ones. 
This morning we harvested 6 heads of lettuce, a handful of patty pan squash and two tiny heads of cauliflower. As you probably already know cauliflower is a cold season plant… and with the heat we’ve been having here in the Seattle/Tacoma area lately I was getting all leaves and not much cauliflower. So I decided to go ahead and put the cauliflower out of it’s misery and pull it.
I’ll try again growing it again in the fall when it has a better chance.
Check out my pole beans!!! Don’t their vines look cute? I tied a little piece of string from the box to an outdoor light and it’s climbing it’s merry way up. I LOVE the way it looks. {Those may or may not be more discounted plants on the patio bench}. 😉
I was at Wilco the other day and picked up 2 bags of discounted seed potatoes. The potatoes are in pretty bad shape but I’d thought I’d give them a try anyway. Who knows… maybe I’ll get lucky. 
And last but not least… Loganberries. Have you tried them? Loganberries are a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry and our favorite berry spot Spooner Farms had a few flats of them today. I think I’ll make a batch of jam and freeze the rest to enjoy this winter.

I’d love to have a goof off day (it’s a sunny winter’s day here) but too much work to do. If the sun stays out a bit longer I might sneak out for some reading time… Until then, it’s the grindstone for me!

MMM…loganberry. Never had the fruit, but here in Buffalo loganberry drink is a staple at hot dog stands. It all started at a former amusement park across the lake in Canada called Crystal Beach. Crystal beach was a lakeside amusement park from the late 1880s and was very popular through the mid 1950s. Back in the old days you could take a boat called the Canadiana across and spend the day.
The popularity declined more recently and it closed in the 1980s. Many products from the park still hold popularity and Loganberry drink is one of them.

I can’t believe how well established your garden looks – especially considering those boxes didn’t get built until just recently. You must have given those plants really healthy soil and a lot of love.

When I finally got around to planting my potatos, they looked WAY WORSE!!! …now they are coming up gangbusters!!!!
