Yesterday, for the third time this week, I was able to get out of the house and take Lucy for a walk on the beach.
The weather here has been fantastic lately. Or at least the past few days have been.
Walking on the sidewalks around here is still pretty much a crap shoot. The roads are still super icy in spots and it’s just not worth it {with or without spikes on the shoes} to start up my walking regimen again.
I miss it so much. Walking out the front door and going for a 5 or 8 mile walk. It feels so good to be able to do that.
So when the sun is out and the wind isn’t howling… Lucy and I head to the beach.
And yesterday was the PERFECT day for that!! We practically had the whole place to ourselves.
Lucy found a baby crusty crab and I found a heart shaped rock. It was a good walk. Lucy came home tired and napped the rest of the day and I felt like I walked enough to eat a second cookie. 🙂
It was a win-win if you ask me.
We may have a backyard full of snow, but at least it feels like we’re coming out of the frozen tundra stage.
Warmer weather is on its way and that means gardening season is too. And I couldn’t be happier about that.
I don’t know about you, but I’m itching to get back to playing in the dirt. I think I’ve had enough down time. I’m ready to get out there and GROW something!!!
Aren’t you?
Have a great day everyone,
~Mavis

Here in Western NC, we tilled in some compost yesterday and I’ve got seeds starting inside. Looking forward to a great season, Lord willing!
Have a great day all!

I’ve started peppers and tomatoes and already have some tomatoes ready to pot into a bigger container. Only one jalapeño has sprouted in the pepper tray so far. It will be 86 today so that might help get those pepper seeds inspired to come up. But then we’re back in the 60’s, so we will see. Still harvesting a lot of kale and think I’ll make another round of kale chips tomorrow. Enjoy the beach walks, they’re extra nice without a lot of other folks around.

After almost a month where with the windshield it was between minus 30 to minus 50 Celsius, it has finally warmed up to a couple days where it’s plus temperatures. Thank goodness, everyone was miserable and everything kept breaking down.

Hi Mavis! I sent you an email on Feb. 6 – I’m wondering if maybe you have a filter and didn’t see it? I had a question about filtering the blog for specifically Maine posts (we’re visiting in June).

Hi Susie,
It must have gone to spam, I don’t see it. While I don’t have everything I wrote about Maine in one spot, list of “Maine things” this link should help: https://www.onehundreddollarsamonth.com/category/maine/
