Hello thursday! The temperatures are going to continue to rise today with a high of 85 predicted. 🙁 I don’t know how those of you in warmer regions handle the temps… especially those of you in places that reach 100 degrees or more. Please feel free to chime in with your tips for beating the heat, I’d love to hear them.

98 degrees actual yesterday, feels like 108 with humidity. Same today in SC.
To beat the heat, cooler with wet cloths and ice bag. Pull one out ever so often and drape around neck. Drink water water water avoiding anything sweet like soda.

Yes, I’m in SC also…16 days over 100+ temps… about to break a record. It is quite oppressive and difficult to enjoy the outdoors without a pool or lake. Otherwise, inside it is!
Love your blog… and would LOVE 85 degrees. :(. It is so humid here… that’s a big problem…. the humidity. I sweat just walking a short bit to the mailbox. Just like an oven. 🙁

I’m in North Florida. Temps are around 95-100 degrees daily with the humidity around 90%. It feels like you are drowning outside the air is so thick. Two ways to beat the heat, stay inside until it cools down a bit in the evenings or find a spring to jump into. We are lucky we have one less than 5 miles from our house. One dip in the constant 72 degree water and you are good for a while!

I know it seems cave like, but I keep all the shades and blinds closed during the day. I don’t cook anything indoors, everything is made outside on the grill. My grill under a covered porch so it’s tolerable to cook out there. We’ve had a terrible heat wave here in St. Louis a week or so of it in June, and more than a week in July. Only 92 with an index of 100 yesterday. Surprisingly it felt better. Humidity is a huge factor here too. Thank goodness for pools!!!!!

Oh, I was going to complain of our 110 degree heat here in central CA, but whoa! No contest compared to the humidity in the South. We just start the day early, hydrate like crazy, keep the house dark and cool, and hang out in the pool when my husband comes in from work. He’s a farmer, so the workday starts at dark thirty. But with harvest fast approaching, he usually sends the workers home after they’ve got their 8 hrs in (about 3pm), and keeps on working. Luckily we can escape to the coast or Sierras on weekends!

We do as as we can early and take a nice lunch break. Most people don’t realize that 5 in the evening is the hottest part of the day. One thing that I watch is not eating lots of carbs in the morning. I have read that it increases body temp.
