On Monday I got up at the crack of dawn and picked up The Girl so we could met up with my friend Heather at the Annual League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort in New Hampshire. It was a long day, with lot’s of stops but it was totally worth the trip from Mid-Coast Maine.
The Girl and I first attended the fair in 2019 and it was so much fun, we had to go back again to see all the new things all our favorite artists had been working on in anticipation of the show.
Here’s a sampling of some of the unique things we saw.
A giant wood carved mouse by Artist Laury Nichols.
I loved that she had a 4 part example of the process that goes into her wood carvings.
George Merrill of Dry Dock Designs. A retired school teacher and coach, George takes barn salvage and vintage items and turns them into little works of art {mostly steamboat ships}.
“Fox and Hen” by artist Loring Cheney.
A carved slate octopus gravestone by artist Michael Updike. AMAZING!
Green Duck by Joseph DeRobertis.
The Girl loved this alligator.
Queen Anne tile Mural by Symmetry Tile Works.
Beach stone vessels by Paula Berry Ceramics. It had a very Zen like feel to it. Very calming.
Note to self: Start collecting smooth white rocks.
Fuzzy Math. Yes, I think that’s an excellent name for this piece.
One of a kind iron weathervanes. WOW.
Those glass spiders… So cool!
About halfway through checking out the booths we decided to get a snack. There were several food trucks to choose from but in the end we decided to go for something none of us had tried before.
A Dole Whip Float. Which I think was basically some sort of dairy free soft serve with pineapple juice over the top. It came complete with a maraschino cherry and a pink umbrella so it worked for us. 🙂
It was a good day. And this wooden Humpty Dumpty carving was one of my favorites. But a funny thing happened after seeing Humpty. As I was exiting the booth, I spotted the switch plates on display and stood there for a minute looking at all the designs and I began to try and figure out where I could put one in our house.
And then my mind when blank. I couldn’t for the life of me picture my house. I couldn’t remember where we lived. What house where were in!? Were we in the red colonial? Where we still in the HOA neighborhood?
It was puzzling and funny all at the same time and made me think that maybe it’s time to get one of those Road Id bracelets in case my mind goes blank again because maybe this is the age when you start to go downhill and forget everything.
Eventually I figured it out and Heather and I laughed about it. The Girl just rolled her eyes. 😉
Ha!
The League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort. If you get the chance to go, make a day of it. You won’t be disappointed.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone, I’m off to help the HH give the wood chipper a whirl.

Thanks for sharing the craft fair. I enjoyed looking at the works of real artisans.
The Dole Whip is a soft serve ice cream featured at Disneyland. There are copycat
recipes for it on the web.

And don’t forget Walt Disney World! A Dole Whip Float is a must-do in the hazy, hot and humid Florida sun. A new favorite is the lime Dole whip – plain or over sprite. Not a fan of Sprite but it tastes fine.

Looks like you had a terrific time. Thanks for taking us along.
Live Road ID! I had them make tags for my dogs. They lay flat to the coller and therefore don’t make noise.

Maybe you should mention that “going blank” episode to your doctor next time. Sometimes after taking meds a while, strange things happen. I am sure it is nothing to worry about, but it is ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry!
Glad you enjoyed the girls and had a fun day!
Heather says
Ooh… Did you buy anything?

A suggestion: don’t dismiss the “going blank”episode. A “TIA” is a tiny, mini stroke caused (usually) by a wee blot clot. They’re not serious in and of themselves but are a warning sign of possible larger blood clot / stroke events to come. Hopefully, it was nothing, but it is definitely worth mentioning to your doctor.
