While The Girl and I were in the Cotswolds a few weeks ago, one of our favorite stops for tea was Lucy’s Tea Room in Stow-on-the-Wold.
The food and the setting was so charming in fact, that the next time we go to England we already know we want to stay in the village of Stow-on-the-Wold and will probably book a room at Lucy’s.
Stone floors, wooden beams, old pine furniture. And Cake! Seriously, what’s not to love?
I think the thing we both liked about Stow-on-the-Wold is that while there were tourists {us included} it didn’t feel like a tourist hot spot.
It wasn’t super crowded and you almost felt like a local popping into shops and eating at the local cafes.
And we liked the fact that if you did stay right in the center of the village, there would still be plenty to see and explore for multiple days without feeling the need to move on. We loved it.
And we loved Lucy’s. And we enjoyed seeing grannies having cake and tea at 10 am as if it were a meal {which is TOTALLY is!}.
Lucy’s Tearoom isn’t just a tea room though, they also have two ensuite rooms you can book as well.
So if you’re headed to the Cotswolds and looking for a cozy place to stay in a village with good food, Lucy’s Tea Room in Stow-on-the-Wold is at the top of our list.
Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, they do it all. And do it well. 😉
We can’t wait to go back.

I’m so pleased that you had a lovely time Mavis.
On a side note , I was wondering what if any vegetables you might be able to overwinter in Maine .
Here, ( well apart from strawberries having a funny five minutes fruiting in October and daffodils in November instead of April) we can grow leeks and swede ( rutabaga) and lettuce over winter easily enough.
