This year I decided to make some homemade DIY cinnamon potpourri for my neighbors for Christmas. The beauty of making your own is that you can be sure that there are not any nasty chemicals floating through your house–just yummy cinnamon goodness.
I always make a few extra bags for the ladies at the library as well. It’s become something everyone looks forward to around the holidays. Plus, it’s just fun to make.
Supplies You’ll Need for DIY Cinnamon Potpourri
2 Pounds Cinnamon Sticks
2 Pounds Rose Hips
1 Pound Dried Orange Peels
1 Pound Uva Ursi Leaves
4 Ounces Whole Cloves
1 Ounce Cinnamon Essential Oil
HUGE Bowl
Plastic gloves {cinnamon essential oil can be a little tough on the skin}
Bags {if you are going to bag it for individual gifts}
Directions
Toss all of the ingredients into the bowl in the order listed. Toss to mix.
Allow the mixture to sit for a couple of hours so that all of the smells can intermingle and get to know one another.
Then, bag the potpourri and tie it up with a pretty bow. Neighbor gifts, check. {Also, neighbors, if you are reading this, act surprised when I hand it too you. 🙂

Sounds like it will smell so yummy! Where do you buy all the Uva Ursi leaves (what are these) and rose hips?

I purchased mine from San Francisco Herb Company.

Do you purchase or make your dried orange peels? If you purchase, where do you get them? I am putting this on my list of things to make next holiday season. Thanks!
Mavis Butterfield says
I do. But San Francisco Herb Company sells then as well.
