The HH and I were out running errands the other day when we noticed a sign along the highway for Maple’s Bakery and Cafe in Yarmouth, Maine. There was something about the sign that made us turn around and go back to check it out.
The unassuming sign on the side of their building, it was just such a classic design, almost like an old school bakery or chocolate shop sign, and well, it sucked us in.
And HOT DOG! We hit the jackpot!!! π π π
The shop was a pretty busy when we got there, so it was hard to take a lot of photos, and I wish there was a scratch and sniff {remember those stickers?} button I could could activate somehow for the blog because man oh man, you just knew everything was going to be good.
Miso banana bundt cake with brown butter icing.
Hot cocoa bundt cake! Note to self: find a recipe for this.
Locally roasted coffee? Check.
In handmade mugs? Check Check.
Blueberry bread pudding with possibly mascarpone cheese? We spotted this in the case, and because of the way the slices were situated on the tray, wouldn’t tell exactly how big the portion was. Well, let’s just say it could have served 4 people for breakfast. OH MY WORD. The HH brought home his leftovers and The Girl swooped it up. And then took a nap afterwards. π
I had the raspberry crumb bar. And I can honestly say, hands down, it was the best fruity bar I’ve ever had in my life. This place, it not only makes some of the best bakery treats ever, but they also make homemade English muffins and bagels too.
Maple’s Bakery and Cafe in Yarmouth, Maine. Put it on your list of places to eat at if you ever find yourself in Coastal New England. It will be worth the trip, trust me. π
Yum Yum Yum.

We’re driving up to Edgecomb in a few days … it looks like we should make a detour. Wow, what a great-looking spot. I would’ve bought something fruity, too.

Good to know! Iβve rushed by so many times! I always seem to be on a time crunch… need to work on that. When you live so far away from things you set your eye on the original destination and rarely stray. This looks worth stopping at.

Ummm, the sign doesn’t say bakery and cafe’; it says bakery and coffee. π
Our daughter moved away from Maine and now lives in Montana. Wish we’d know about this place when she lived there.

I am too far away to take a drive to visit Maples. But, my blood sugar may be rising just looking at these pastries.

OMG Mavis, that Blueberry Bread Pudding at Maples is about the most delicious thing I have seen during this holiday season. I don’t suppose you had a chance to “dissect” the flavors to clue us in on how we can make it at home, did you? Better yet, do you think they would clue you in on the ingredients or even give you the recipe? Some places will do that.
In any event, it looks SCRUMPTIOUS! And thanks for sharing!
