As a way of giving back and thanking you for showing up here on this crazy little blog of mine, whether it’s everyday or every week or just when you need to pop by for a recipe, I thought it would be fun to giveaway 12 unique gifts this holiday season. Treasures that have brought me a bit of happiness over the past year. Thank you for being a part of this blog dear friends, and for keeping the conversation going. 🙂
Update: This Giveaway is now closed.
Mavis’ 12 Days of Giveaways – Day 11 – 2 Pairs of Darn Tough Wool Socks
Last winter, after several people on the blog suggested we try Darn Tough socks for the cold New England winters, we finally each bought a pair and let me tell you Bob, we will never go back to ordinary cheap socks again. After wearing the socks just once, we were both hooked and ordered several more pairs.
Yes Darn Tough socks are on the pricey side as far as socks go, but they are made here in America and extremely durable, plus they come with a lifetime guarantee. And honestly, Darn Tough socks are the best made {and warmest} socks we have ever owned.
So… when I came across a sweet deal on L.L. Bean a few months ago, I decided to pick up a few extra pairs and save them for my 12 days of giveaways series this year. LUCKY YOU!! 🙂
Women’s Sock Giveaway {size medium shoe size 7.5 – 9.5}
Men’s Sock Giveaway {size large shoe size 10 – 12}
2 people will win 2 Pairs of Darn Tough Socks
All you have to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment below and answer these two questions:
- If you win, would you like the set of Men’s socks or Women’s socks?
- What temperature is your thermostat set at right now? {Mine is a COZY 68!} 🙂
Comment must be left on the blog to count as an entry. 1 entry per person/ip address. If you cheat, you will totally be disqualified. This giveaway is open to anyone on the planet earth.
This giveaway ends December 10th, 2019 @ 9 pm EST and all the winners of the Mavis’s 12 Days of Giveaways Series will be announced on December 11th, 2019. Winners will be notified via email and have 24 hours to claim their prize. If the prize is not claimed within 24 hours, the prize will be forfeited.
Good Luck! I hope you win!
♥ Mavis

Hi Mavis, I have been following you for at least 3 years now if not 4, and I do look forward to reading your posts each day. I’m striving not to envy your new life in New England. I get many ideas from you and I intend to set 20 goals to achieve in ’20. I was just going to sit out the 12 days of giving since you have so many followers, but those socks got to me, so I’m throwing my hat into the ring, so to speak. I would like to have the womens’ socks if I should be so blessed to win. My thermostat is currently 68 degrees and although we live in North Florida, about 6 miles from Georgia border, it can feel damp and cold. The house we live in now, although a newer home, is such a cold house. I think it is because of the openness and the two-story ceiling in the living room. With that said, I have to set the thermostat at 72 AND wear layers to stay warm this time of year. My favorite spot is in front of the fireplace.

Either men’s or women’s would work for me… both my husband and I work outdoors, though at the moment I need warm socks more than he does. I mend my good wool socks, but that only works so long before they start to get thin.
My thermostat now is at 65 degrees, and all four of us are at home. At night we try to keep the thermostat at 60 after 8 p.m. and then turn it up in the morning gradually, usually to 66 degrees, but we didn’t turn it all the way up today. We are used to a cooler house now, and don’t mind it if we are active, and if we are reading and such we have a lot of nice snuggly throws, warm slippers and hand knit sweaters.
This government publication shows that for every 1 degree you lower your thermostat, the financial savings are considerable, and of course you also lower your carbon footprint, too. According to this chart (see Table 7), 1 degree lower for me turns into almost $900 savings a year! That’s really something! BRING ON THE WARM SOCKS!!!! https://info.ornl.gov/sites/publications/files/Pub41328.pdf

In the days before HH retired and the grands arrived, the house stayed at 62 until 6:30p when HH came home and he would turn on the electric fireplace to bump the living room up to 70 for a few hours. I would pull on an oversized fleece nightie on over my clothes and put on wool sox while working in my studio as it is the largest room and the farthest from the furnace!

I would like the women’s pair of socks. We have no thermostat in the house. We heat entirely with wood in our Amish made wood stove that we bought from Lehmans. Women’s socks would be great. We’re set at 70 — but the wood burning stove keeps it warmer 🙂

Men’s socks would be great…. My thermostat is set at 62 (that’s why I need some socks)

My thermostat is set to 66 🙂
I would love to win the women’s socks. Thanks!!

Honestly, either set because my husband and I LOVE Darn Tough socks – it’s all he wears! Our thermostat is at 65 when we’re home and 62 when we’re not/asleep. It’s chilly but it saves money and we just have a fire or cuddle under blankets if we get cold. 🙂

Women’s socks and the house is a cozy 64 as it’s close to bed time and we all sleep better in a cool house.

Women’s please! I have read that this brand is equivalent to SmartWool only last longer.

Men’s socks, size 10 please. Our thermostat is set at 69. I’ve tried going lower but I’m a lightweight when it comes to winter.

I would choose the ladies. Our thermostat is at 70. We are running the AC here in Orlando.
Kathy says
Men’s socks because my husband needs socks and I’ve been tempted to buy these. Our house is at 69 degrees.
