Mavis’ 12 Days of Giveaways – Day 3 – 1 Hand-forged Garden Tool Gift Set by Fisher Blacksmithing in Bozeman, Montana

I first discovered Tuli Fisher and his insanely beautiful garden tools at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle back in 2014. I remember weaving my way down the aisles of all the wonderful vendor booths and then stopping in my tracks when I spied his tools. I simply had never seen a garden tool as beautiful as the ones he had on display, and picked one up immediately to see how it felt in my hand.

I went home that day with one of his Garden Rakes and when my husband came home that night I showed it to him and even he was impressed with not only the quality of the garden rake, but also agreeing it was worth every penny I had spent on it.

“Each tool is individually built using traditional blacksmithing techniques. Steel is heated to a red glow in the forge and then shaped over the anvil with a hammer. All joinery is done using solid steel rivets. And, each tool is set into its own hand turned handle creating a long-lasting garden tool with no welds. Black Walnut is used for handles. The tight grain of this strong hardwood makes it very durable. Best of all, it just feels good in your hand.”

5 years later… and with a few more of Tuli’s tools in my garden tote, I am still convinced he makes the best garden hand tools on the planet. And I’m not the only one. šŸ˜‰ Genuine quality products handmade by real humans… How cool is that?

    My first instinct would be to hang these tools somewhere in the solarium because they are works of art. But I would use them in the garden-perfect length for working with when one has to sit on the ground to ā€˜playā€™.

    As hard as it would be I would hide them away for 2 years and then give them to my daughter Kat when she graduates from Kansas State. With her degree in parks and rec, along with being an active part of the student farm club these would make the perfect graduation gift.

      My husband and I are artists by profession and I strive to have everything in our home hand made by fellow artists. However I never imagined such tools were even available for our garden. We just purchased 5 acres and hope to move next year. Those tools would be quite the way to start our new garden and yes, we would be doing the happy dance!

    I would use them myself! myself! I transplanted some hosta this year, and had a terrible time breaking them apart and digging up the new dirt. My husband laughed at me and I demonstrated what I had to do to chop them apart. I’m glad I can make him laugh. I don’t have much garden space because I am in an apartment, but I have to have something!

    These are awesome. I would gift them to my mom. My boys love to watch the blacksmith when we go to Fort Nisqually. We uave a membership and go regularly and they still stand there for about an hour everytime. I love that more people are getting recognized for working with hands.

    These tools look like Montana where they were made – enduring, tough, strong. I would love these tools and use them – thinking of Montana and my Dad. My dad loved Montana and the west taking my family on camping trips out their to share the beauty and his love.     I care for a forgotten courtyard at the hospital where I work. Itā€™s a glassed area between the ICU and the Burn unit, and one floor up, looking down on this is our Heart Center. Anyone looking for me knows exactly where I am, and these tools would certainly be a talking point for the nurses, patients and docs!

    Holy cow, are these awesome. There’s no way I’d share them with anyone else! lol I’d probably have to make certain my husband keeps his hands off from them too! We have a lovely piece of land in northern Michigan, but the previous owner loved rock gardens. The problem is that the rocks go down very, very far. I would use these tools to try and dig some of the smaller rocks up to then plant some perennials in the beds. It’s been very tough going with the tools I currently have.     My backyard garden is a bust but we had good luck with our plot at the community garden this past summer. I would use these tools to help expand our growing potential at the community garden next year.

    These are drop dead gorgeous. Many years ago, was engaged to professor at Bozeman, so I spent a summer there with him learning and loving the area. Ultimately, things didn’t work out between the two of us, but I still have a soft spot for Bozeman MT. If I were to receive these lovely tools, they’d become the basis of my gardening hand tools. Have worn out many, and would enjoy knowing I was working with something that I could pass on to my son, who also has my “gardening” gene.

    If I win this Gorgeous set of hand tools, I will do the Happy Dance every time I get to go into the garden!, I would keep them clean and dry, hung inside by my dining-kitchen door, that leads to my raised bed of strawberries. I know this would be a beautiful reminder to get my butt outside and play in the dirt! I have been trying to encourage my family ( and myself) to get involved in growing more food, flowers too!
