Mavis’ 12 Days of Giveaways – Day 9 – A Set of Handwoven Dish Towels made by Kate Kilgus of Nutfield Weaver
I first came across Kate Kilgus’s beautifully handwoven textiles while I was on Instagram one night. Her page popped up and I soon found myself scrolling through her images and wanting a set of my own.
A few months later, I spotted her again at the NH Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, NH and decided this particular set of dishtowels would be the perfect addition to my 12 days of Christmas Giveaways.
Kate not only weaves her own dishtowels, but also scarves, table runners, bookmarks and other handmade treasures and offers them in her Etsy shop year round and various fine art shows and festivals around New England. Pretty cool if you ask me.
2 people will each win a Set of 2 Handwoven Dish Towels from Kate Kilgus of Nutfield Weaver
All you have to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment below about what you’re up to today. 🙂 That’s it.

Comment must be left on the blog to count as an entry. 1 entry per person/ip address. If you cheat, you will totally be disqualified. This giveaway is open to anyone on the planet earth.

A few weeks ago I found three boxes of my old letters in the back recesses of our basement. I knew I had one box somewhere but didn’t realize I had two others. I opened the boxes up and found that they dated back to 1964 when I was 15 years old. My dad was in a career transition and we moved 3 times in 1 1/2 years, and in that time period I made school friends that I kept up correspondence with for many years, as well as with my friends who I initially had to leave. The letters seem to stop in 1981 when my husband and I moved into our current house.
Re-reading these letters has been like looking at a movie reel, reliving all the trials and tribulations of teenage years (mostly trying to unravel the mystery of boys!]; acquiring first jobs other than babysitting; marriage and children. And that’s where I am now in my letter-reading project: enjoying those wonderful and joyous years of having just gotten married. And you know what, Mavis? They’re still joyous years, fifty of them next year.
So reading these old, somewhat musty letters will again be the fun part of my agenda for today.

I’m going to try to use them up this season! hahaha It won’t be safe to come near me this year… cookies everywhere!
More study now and then I’m making homemade pizza for dinner. Today I was able to use last year’s Christmas gift from my husband twice — a KitchenAid mixer — once for the pizza dough and once for the cookie dough.
