Did I tell you my 50 foot hose has gone missing?
Seriously, how does a hose disappear? I’m sure it will resurface at some point but with the weather in the 80’s and 90’s around here lately, watering the garden has turned into a major chore. I have to make at least 5 trips with the wheelbarrow loaded up with watering cans just to water my garden beds properly.
Sure I’m getting a great workout… but c’mon. What a pain!
I feel like it’s the year of the slacker. And let me tell you Bob, I’m embracing it. My garden might be small this year, but I keep telling myself that it’s okay. Next year I’ll have more time {and energy} to spend on it. Right? I’m trying not to beat myself up about it too much but for someone with major OCD, it’s hard. 😉
Oh my. There are tons of them this year. Tons I tell you. Tons. And the strange this is, the HH keeps asking me about them. “Did you pick the raspberries today? What are you going to do with the raspberries? Did you put raspberries in my lunch? Maybe you should freeze the extra raspberries.”
It doesn’t freaking stop.
When did he become a gentleman farmer? Is this what I have to look forward to in my old age? Am I going to have to give him a little plot of his own to take care of? I take a year off from gardening and he suddenly becomes an expert.
I even caught him harvesting a cabbage the other day.
I just hope he doesn’t wander into the greenhouse anytime soon because it’s a real mess in there. Seriously. I’m going to stop typing right now and get out there and clean it up a bit before I get busted by the HH.
Peace Out Girl Scouts. Have a great Sunday.

Installing a drip irrigation system is the BEST! No more watering, you use a TON less water, the water goes exactly where you want it to instead of onto the plants or around the beds, and adding a timer means you can water when you’re not there or even before you wake up – it’s amazing. Worth every second of putting the dang thing together. You can add on to it or adjust it every year if you need to, too.
Not that I’m in love with my drip irrigation. Nah.

This IS the way to go! You can leave on trips and not worry about the garden. I know it rains a lot there so programming it accordingly would be a great thing. .”is almost “set it and forget it.”

I know… I totally need to do the drip thing.

You know how addicting gardening is for us, your readers. You do something and hundreds of us try doing it, too (or at least contemplate doing it in our yards). Maybe he is finally realizing what a great, smart and frugal partner you are to be growing so much of your household’s food. He may just be amazed and will soon be helping you with all the weed pulling….let me know when that happens, okay? <3
Keep on keeping on, My Dear Mavis!

Bahahaha! I will let you know when he starts pulling weeds. Miracles can happen, right? 🙂

Just think … you could have tons of raspberry smoothies all Fall and Winter if you freeze those raspberries.
Mavis Butterfield says
I’m trying to do just that. Keeping the berries away from everyone this year is hard though. 🙂

Consider yard saling for drip hoses Really, a better way to deliver the water. Other wise the roots grow up near the surface of the dirt and required even more watering.
