On Sunday afternoon I went outside to play in the garden, snap a few pictures and supervise while The Girl worked on shoveling the 5 yards of Tagro we had delivered on Friday. She shoveled while I pointed to areas in the garden that could benefit from soil soil buildup {Bless her heart, she considered it more of a workout than a CHORE}.
I had hoped to reseed the lawn later that afternoon but after working in the yard and snapping photos, I didn’t feel so hot and went inside for a break {which lasted 2 and a half days!!}.
Is it just me, or is waiting for green tomatoes total torture? HURRY UP! I’ve got plans for each and every tomato I harvest this summer.
It’s time to get a second planting of beets {and a bunch of other crops} in the ground.
Where are the chickens when you need them? I’ll have to chop up the Swiss chard and hide it in a stir fry dish to get the HH and Monkey Boy to eat it. It’s not much, but we harvest a nice basket full of kale, romaine lettuce, summer squash and a few herbs. Summer. It’s finally here. Yee-Haw!

Our tomatoes don’t ripen until August here in western Michigan. But we have golden beans (wax) beans galore, green beans that will be ready in another week or so, and the start of pickling cucumbers. I’ve canned 12 pints of golden beans so far!

Tomatoes won’t ripen until August in Wisconsin. Have lettuce and cabbage started for fall harvest. Still picking peas while the green beans have just really started. Cucumbers should be ready in a week or so. Cabbage and broccoli are in their prime right now.

Could you share how you prepare or cook those little squash? I saw you harvest them earlier this year and wondered then too. They are so cute but how much is left if you peel it or cut the seeds out? Very curious. Thanks!

We just harvested 5 little cherry tomatoes, can’t wait for more to ripen! All the other tomatoes still look like a ways off. I got a late start to my zucchini and I’m very anxious for the blossoms to turn into squash.

We have had about 7 cherry tomatoes. There are TONS of green tomatoes out there and I am so anxious for them to be ready. It’s been a very cool summer thus far, but this week Kansas turned on it’s typical oven – so I am expecting them very very soon!

So glad you are better! Just an FYI…swiss chard with just a hint of celery is lovely in smoothies! I even use kale, and I really don’t care for them any other way. ☺
Oh, and we have about 10 little cherry tomatoes from a volunteer plant here in VA! Yay, cause we were letting our beds go fallow this year.

In Surrey, BC here just outside Vancouver and its been sooooo hot!
I was given a hanging basket cherry tomato (no name on it) plant for my birthday in May and have already harvested 50+ cherry tomatoes off it. And now its full of blossoms again!
My potted sweet million is starting to redden and i’ve already had 2 little ones off it. My other 2 potted plants (cant remember the names) are growing well but still green yet.
