Backyard Garden Plot Pictures – Week 28 of 52
Things are growing like crazy in our backyard garden. Especially the squash plant in the oak barrel along side the potting bench. It’s getting bigger everyday. The zucchini we have planted along side the fence is finally taking off too.
The pallet garden needs a little TLC {hopefully I can get to it tomorrow} but overall our 16 raised garden boxes are doing great and I’m pretty happy with the way things look.
Earlier this week we harvested a few more heads of cabbage and planted fall potatoes in their place so that’s why you see an almost naked garden box in the picture.
By next week the beans should start to climb up the bean tepees.
The tomatoes and cucumber plants are getting huge! I had to break out the twine and tie our green zebra tomato plants to the greenhouse ceiling yesterday. Yikes!
Red cabbage, potatoes and Chinese cabbage.
Much to my surprise, our 3 potato towers are still hanging in there and the volunteer potatoes growing in the compost bin aren’t looking to shabby either.
The view from the back deck.
The Swiss chard and kale are finally starting to come in. The chickens are constantly poking their head through the fence to try and get a bite.
Ye olde’ raspberry patch is churning out the raspberries faster than we can pick them. We picked over a gallon of the plump juicy berries this morning for a pie {stay tuned!}.
And last but not least, the container herb garden. The Thyme has begun to flower, the parsley is on it’s way out and the oregano has had enough. To everything there is a season!
How is your garden growing these days? Have you harvested anything good lately?

Do you thin your raspberry plants at all? Mine had a bunch of babies this year and I’m not sure what to do with them. A gallon of berries, wow!

I did this Spring. This should help. http://seattletimes.com/html/homegarden/2016003926_ciscoemorris25.html

It’s awesome how things grow differently across the country. In GA, we just picked our last yellow squash, zucs, and berries. I might start another round of squash for the summer we have left. I’m also planning the fall garden, which is going to take some time because making some land additions.
