This past week I made a batch of newspaper seedling pots, started some kale, moved 2 of the raised garden beds to improve the garden layout, and harvested a few potatoes. I also made a dent in the rock border I am trying to move, and I’m hoping to have all the rocks moved before the end of the month. Fingers crossed.
I can tell already this is going to be a busy week in the garden, weather permitting or not. I ordered a Meyer Lemon tree and it arrived while I was out of town, so I need to get it planted asap. I also need to plant those lilies I purchased from the Tacoma Home and Garden Show, and Helen from Meridian told me her Costco recieved their first shipment of landscape fabric in, so now I have to head over to Costco this afternoon and see if my store has it too.
There will be new seedlings to start this week, a few projects to finish and a lot of baking to do so I can spend most of the weekend finishing up a loarger project I am working on. Busy. Busy. Busy.
Just the way I like it.

I ordered the bulk of my seed for my garden this year from Botanical Interests. They have great pricing and love that the planting suggestions are listed on each seed packet. I’ll take a few pictures as the garden progresses and send them to you. 2 days ago, I shoveled a path thru the snow in my raised garden bed so that I could get to the greenhouse. My lettuce from last fall is shooting new leaves!! I am so excited. It was 60 degrees in there even with the sub-zero temps that we have had here in NW WY.

Would love to have a Meyer Lemon tree. Will you put it in a pot? Outdoors or indoors in this area?
Denise says
Where did you get your Meyer lemon tree from? I think they suggest planting it in a pit just in case the temp goes below a certain degree… Depends on the hardiness of your particular plant. Maybe 18 degrees? Rare here but not unheard of.

I’m collecting lots of goodies from my vegetable patch. I’m about to cut herbs to dry and freeze. I love the fact that I can walk outside my door into the garden for yummy food. I can’t believe the size of your yard, and you say it is a suburban block. The blocks here are much smaller, mine is very small 460 square metres, but I’m still able to plant food.

This week I’ll be chicken wiring, lining and filling 3 new beds and starting to plant my spinach, peas and radishes.
Oh and putting in a drip irrigation.
yicks!

A lot to do- I had a tough fall last year and didn’t get my garden shut down like I should have- I am still doing clean up of my perennials, and getting ahead of the creeping buttercup- laying out compost on my raised beds, cleaning and sanitizing my cell packs and pots, and scrubbing down my greenhouse benches. Oh and oiling, cleaning my tools. I love it!
