I spent most of yesterday cleaning out the pantry. The Boy Scouts are gearing up to come around and “Scout for Food” so I thought this would be the perfect time to go through my stockpile. This is a picture of my “overflow” room. The place where everything goes after the kitchen, bathroom and laundry cupboards are filled with their respective products {toiletry & canning shelves are out of view}. Although I strive to feed my family for $100 a month, and sometimes score giant coupon hauls, the truth is… I don’t keep it all.
I was able to fill 4 bags & 2 boxes full of processed loot. I hope they like it.
Getting ready for this years anticipated growing season {and it’s bounty} had me wanting to get my canning gear in order as well. I lost count somewhere around 400 jars, but if I had to guesstimate, I’d say there are about 600 total empty jars. I think it will be interesting to see how many I can fill by the end of summer. How many I can fill with “home processed” goodness that is.
Looks like it might be sunny today… I’m off to play in the garden.
Have a great day.

Awesome pictures Mavis! So wonderful that you can donate that much! You gave me a great idea for my storage room…laying boxes on their face and stacking them on top of each other. I have always stacked them back to back. I think your way will give me more room, plus you can count how many you have easier. I’ll have to add re-arrange the storage room to my list for the day.

I love using the tomato & cucumber boxes from Costco. Not only are they free, but they stack nicely too. 🙂

Nice! You’ll be making room for all those jars by clearing out some of those cans, too. Girl, you’re going to need room for your 600 jars:-).

I *really* think the next giveaway should be you coming to organize my house! 🙂 Love your pantry – do you mind if I pin it on my pinterest wall??
