Last week while we were out and about we passed by the Midcoast Habitat for Humanity ReStore and decided to stop in for a look around.
It was lunch time when we went and we were both hungry so imagine our surprise when we walked up the entrance to find it was “vendor and customer appreciation day” and they were serving up a free lunch.
Free weenies, burgers, chips and cookies. Talk about hitting the jackpot! 😉
*Note the style of hot dog buns… Here in New England the buns are split on the top, not the sides. 😉
Light bulbs $1.00 a box!! What a deal!
Anyone need a new water heater? This one was only $100. I have no idea how much a new water heater costs, but this seemed like a deal to me.
Need a sink?
The Midcoast Habitat for Humanity ReStore has lots of them!
Looking to replace an old door? They’ve got those too!
Bits and bobs.
It’s like if your grandfather hoarded an entire house full of supplies for anything that would need to be replaced in a house {or 20} you could find it here at the ReStore. It’s crazy just how many things they have for sale.
Seriously, everything from windows to appliances to nails. The HH loves the place.
And I like that there’s a place people can donate {and shop for} used household items that you wouldn’t be able to find at a thrift store. And that pretty much everything is reasonably priced too.
Do you have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore in YOUR area? Have you found anything exciting at one? Curious minds want to know!
Have a good one,
~Mavis

Your store looks nicely organized and full of pride. The one in the town we used to live in was chaos and the prices not nearly as good. I bought a few things from there. When we moved I donated a lot of our ‘garage’ items to them and it was nice they took everything from paver stones, garden supplies, leftovers from the deck we built, odd screws and hardware, houseplants, paint and household chemicals, leftover flooring, tools, etc. It was nice they took what we didn’t want to move.

Ours gets brand new stoves, refigerators, abd dishwashers from the big box store. If an appliance is discontinued they donate them.
We have found lots of things the last thing was a nice long table for my rug hooking room.

We have one of those stores in our town. I have been in there a couple of times many years ago. It had such a variety that you never knew what you would find. A real treasure hunt! I have also volunteered at a Habitat for Humanity house build many many years ago. The employees of the place where I worked got together and volunteered to help build the house for one of our co-workers. I don’t have much skill in the house building area, so I was assigned to help serve food to the volunteers. It was a fun experience!

After dh had a stroke, we needed chairs he could get out of, safely and easily. Money was an issue (waiting on disability) so we couldn’t buy new. We went to our local HH Restore – Goodwill doesn’t carry much furniture in the one near us. We found several Queen Anne chairs, big, nice, clean and paid $65 for all three!! That was in 2017 and we still two of them daily, the other was ruined in a storage unit by leaking water and it was the nicest of the three. I like that you are supporting a real charity, not a corporate giant, you know?

My best deal from Habitat was a Kennedy rocker but my favorite item was a bird on a branch lamp for our guest bedroom.

I have a store near me in Lawrence, MA but yours has better stuff. I may need to make a weekend trip up that way.

We also have a nice ReStore here in Portsmouth NH. You could check it out on your way to midcoast Maine.

We have one, but it was more reasonably priced before it moved to its new location a couple years ago. Your post has inspired me to go check it out again soon.

We have one in our area of SC but it is a junk store with unrealistic pricing. I’m surprised at the difference.

That water heater is a steal! $800 a couple months ago to have my mother’s water heater replaced.

I love our local ReStore! They just moved into a shuttered Ethan Allen showroom, and it’s so big, bright, and clean! (The old one was next to a bowling alley – dark and LOUD! Ha, ha)
Great place to buy spray paint, work gloves, random household items.

Our ReStore won’t take anything older than 10 years old and when I tried to donate, they wouldn’t take anything brass. Haven’t tried to support them since.

We have a good store in Wilmington, DE. I buy painting supplies there, especially tape…cheap than big box store and supporting a good charity. My sister furnished a lot of her house after “starting over.” Sometimes prices are great, other times I’m surprised what they are asking. But it is my go to for odds and ends.

Yes! Have one in Annville, PA & attached to a thrift store… neat place to sift thru

When we had our small place near the beach, I would go over to Habit for Humanity Restore often, to find DIY projects – furniture, decor and also kitchen items to use at our little oasis. As my HH painted all the walls, I worked on the DIY projects. It was quite a project for over a year, with only being able to go down two weekends a month. Still, we managed to buy about 85% from either Habitat for Humanity and thrift stores in the area (supporting CIS = Communities in Schools). We eventually sold our little place fully furnished after many enjoyable years. I hope the new owners liked the serene spa and beach theme throughout. Fully support H4H Restore!

My husband and I visited the Restore in Lancaster, Ohio just last Friday. We found a great deal on flooring. $15 a box! Same flooring sold at a Home Improvement store for $70 a box.
