Is it Monday already? Wow… Last week seemed to just zip on by with all the Save the Drama for Your Mama festivities and all. The weather in the Seattle area has been so ridiculously nice the past few days I have spent most of my time tackling garden projects left and right. I woke up with sore muscles this morning and it FELT GREAT! Although if this keeps up, I think I’ll need to take a mini vacation just to re-coup.
Luckily I didn’t need much in the way of groceries, and was able to pull items from my freezer and stockpile to feed my family this past week. Some weeks I’m able to score a ton of food for ultra cheap and other weeks I just throw in the towel early and splurge on something yummy. I think as long as I give in and buy a few full priced items every once in a while, it helps to keep me normal.
Here is what I purchased last week:
Albertsons $7.36
{I did not include the cake mix in my total because the mix is for a school function and I am being reimbursed}. Go HERE to read more about this purchase.
I went in for underwear and came out with a ham. Costco is evil that way.
Albertsons $.10 I was able to use my $5.00 off store coupon I earned last week PLUS there were $.30 peelies attached to the boxes! Woo Hoo! I love me some cheap butter.
Local Nursery $10 for onion starts. Buff the Wayward chicken escaped last week and ate all of the ones I had previously planted. Grrrrr!
Total Spent This Week $26.53
Total Spent This Year $381.42
Total Spent This Year on Garden Seeds/Supplies $357.92
How did you do? Did you shell out big bucks for your Easter ham? Is your goodie drawer stuffed with candy?
Amazon: 14,000 Things to be Happy About. $8.95

LOL @ save the drama for your mama festivities! You always give me a chuckle, Miss Mavis.
I’m surprised you didn’t do the Allegra deal…or did you and we haven’t seen it yet? The $7 Allegra coupon for last week was a $2 moneymaker at Albies – I had 10 of them so I made $20. I’m guessing you probably made $100 at least? I used that to buy milk and produce on the free….since I don’t have a garden. #jealous

I was going to do the Allegra deal but I decided to pass this time around. Congrats on the overage. I love overage!

I, too, did the Allegra hustle. I scored a 9.5# Albertsons Butt ham for free plus free Happy 100th Birthday Oreos, Bush’s new sweet black beans, Soba drink and 3 pkg of Easter Candy, with coupon, all free plus tax. Also I used two Fred Meyer coupons for $10 off their Flamed spiral hams at Walmart. They consider their purple pkg Sam’s Club spiral ham as their house brand. I bought 4 spiral hams on two times thru, and pd between $7 and $9 something for each one. Hope you had a blessed Easter.
Mavis says
Thanks Helen. I’m glad you were able to pick up some free butt hams. 🙂

I didn’t do much shopping last week, either. Also trying to use up freezer/pantry items before summer.
I had a ham in the freezer from January (a Christmas Clearance at QFC) so cooked that for Easter. Got a big pot of Bean and Ham soup (I use Great Northern Beans) going on the stove today.
I spent $10 on produce at Chuck’s (you have to stop in there if you are ever in Vancouver!) They had apples for .50 lb. (forgot what kind) so I made an Apple Pie and Apple Crisp. Splurged on Tillamook Ice Cream . Gotta have the good stuff for my Betty Crocker Martha Stewart Rachel Ray Chef Boy Ar Dee Delicious pie!
Other than that…a quick stop at Safeway for 8 Cans of Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup and 4 Prego spaghetti sauce. Used 2- $1/4 for the soup and 2 – $1/2 for the sauce with 4 Doubles
SPENT: $5.96

Nice work! Sometimes it’s nice just to stay home and eat out of the freezer.

WHEW! I’m getting my Monday w/ Mavis fix so all is right with my day.
I went to Albertson’s on Saturday and found Stove Top buy 4 get 1 free tear pads AND .55 off peelies on the boxes so that was a nice surprise. I’ve also been getting emailed coupons from Albie’s for produce and bakery items as well as mailer ones for $3 off meat….I’m not sure if I can love them more than I already do 🙂 Overall, I spent $17.45, saved 71%.
OH! I almost forgot, my clerk told me that over a 2 day period a regular couponer came in and purchased nearly $10K in merchandise and paid .34 and yes, she followed every rule/policy Albie’s has. I thought it was pretty awesome.
Mavis says
Holy Cannolies. 10k worth of food?
Good job on the Stove Top!

WOOT! Monday’s wouldn’t be the same without you, Mavis!! I felt like I blew my budet in March, but got tons of good deals. The good part of that is that I’m totally not spending much in April, so it’s all good. 🙂 Living out of the freezer and cupboards this week.
Mavis says
Good for you! I think it’s fun to take the week off from shopping every once in a while. 🙂

p.s. I didn’t blow my budet, just my budget, lol.
